Hi all,
I'm doing a computer science project next year with the title "Computer Games based on Cognitive Agents" - I have to create computer game characters using a particular agent architecture (BDI) and evaluate its aptness for use in creating human-like game characters. I have to use a set programming language for programming the characters (an extended version of AgentSpeak(L) interpreted using Jason), and have them play the game by connecting over a network. I also have to focus on the emotional aspect of the characters' behaviour.
So... my questions are:
- Is it possible to get bots programmed in any language to connect to a game of Half-Life 2 over a network and play?
- Are there any tools to make this easier?
- Would it be possible to control the facial animation of the models to help enhance the emotional characteristics of the characters?
I know of a tool for the Unreal Tournament series that allows this, but as far as I'm aware UT/UT2003/UT2004 don't have the facial expression possibilities that HL2 does, and I think that could be a nice touch if it's possible to do given what I've said above.
Thanks very much in advance for any help!
