thats some good looking shit to be in a game.

You know the only problem with this game is that no game looks good anymore.

I play HL2 at 1280*960 and everything on high and now every other game looks like crap (i also have an Xbox)

Even vampires: bloodlines. I'm sorry, but they screwed up big time there, I got the game and it was pathetic how they used the source engine. You barley use Physics in the game, which is one the the best things about source. Plus, there is like 2 facial expressions for the characters. Its a damn good thing there is such a kick ass story line and awesome atmosphere to that game.

Close up it's ugly, but at normal distance, it's very pretty.
 
There are some far better examples of pretty bump/normal mapping in HL2. It's very well done actually, and IMO, HL2 is the only game that does normal mapping right, no plastic, and it isn't used to replace polygons, but to add fine details, skin texture and such, not to turn some ugly 100 poly mesh into something acceptable.

lol i took that exact same pic in the citadel with the striders as you did.
 
Anyone notice that mat_parralex is by default set to 0. I tried this awhile ago, and I'm pretty sure it made a big difference in props level of detail. I don't recall it effecting textures though.


BTW I'm talking about setting it to 1.
