Camping has been used by %80 players of CS:S. But some servers banned this feature. Maybe It is not a feature but It let earns the player some exprience, while noobness. Let's list the camping rules.

Legalness:

- If you have attacked a player and the player hasn't died. You can camp for less 10 seconds. And kill him. It's such a game. Right?

Illegalness:

- The game has been started and you are camping since the begin. and you trapped a few players in the game. You would be kicked.

There's nothing technically wrong with camping, as far as how it affects the fair gameplay of the round. Each team has an objective. If the last terrorist on a de map decides to camp for the rest of the round, then he's either not helping his team to plant the bomb or he's going to lose because he didn't plant the bomb. If a counter terrorist camps, well, hopefully he's at least watching one of the bomb sites. That's just doing his job; although if he's the only one left, he should be running between both sites to defend them.

Same logic goes for hostage maps. If CTs wait around, the round timer ends and they didn't rescue the hostages. If a T decides to camp nowhere near the hostages, he's easily letting the CT's sneak away with them. Although I doubt a T would ever camp in such a position that he never sees anyone. So, a terrorist camping in a hostage map is really never bad, because he's simply doing his objective by stopping anyone that crosses him.

All that being said, camping can easily make people mad for 1 of 2 reasons:

1. If someone camps to the end of the round, everyone has to wait for the round timer to run out, which is boring
2. People like to complain when they're killed by a 'camper' who is hiding in some spot. This is really just whining, because you should be paying attention to your surroundings and watching out for anyone if you're in a potentially dangerous area.

The entire game is based around camping. In de_maps, Counter-terrorists are supposed to camp bombsites/surrounding kill-zones to stop Terrorists from planting the bomb. In cs_maps, it's the other way around.

Anti-camp mods go against the basic point of the game. Sure, in publics it's not so much an issue, but it would be like banning engineers from building sentries next to briefcases in Team Fortress 2.

If you are a demoman or a heavy, camping is so ideal. Because you're powerful. But in other classes it isn't.

As long as the Terrorists are actively defending the hostages while they are camping, it's fine. The same goes for the Counter-Terrorists when they are protecting the bomb sites. The team that is defending the objectives should be allowed to camp, as they are not required to do anything else except ensure the opposing team doesn't complete the objective. That's what the time limit is for. This means that the offensive team should not be allowed to camp, as they are required to complete a certain objective, whether it's saving the hostages or planting a bomb.
