I never heard of this term before. Anyone know what it means. I think it means it will be in stores by that date. Am I right?? :O

There are a few dates assosiated with a "release date" for games. One is the street date, which is the day Gamer X can go to any given store and buy it. The other is the ship date, which is the date the game gets shipped to all the stores around the country/world. Most of the time for average game releases and non-simotaneous releases, the posted release date is the ship date. For games like HL2, where the goal is to have it avalible in shops all around the world at the same time, the release date of nov. 16th is the street date (i suspect). For those releases game stores often have to sign a contract saying they wont sell the game before Date X, or face penalties. One example i can think of like this is warcraft 3, most game stores had it for a day or two before the actual date they were allowed to release it.

It means you shall have a copy of HL2 in your hands...unless you bought it off steam.

Either way you will be playing it on that day!
