Did anybody ever play the original HL mode, Case Closed?
You assumed the role of Bob, the Black Mesa janitor.
It was generally made as a joke to combat the different view mods of Opposing Force and Blue Shift, but it actually turned into something really special. It had an amazing section of the game after you re-emerge from Xen and the laws of physics get completely messed up for you and you alone, as you walked on the ceiling (upside down) but all enemies/items remained on the ground level (rightside up). It was rather impressive modwork for the time. It also has interesing sections where Xen was fusing with Black Mesa itself and areas were an odd hybrid of both worlds.

The mod had fantastic architecture but I never finished it so I don't know how it ended. Maybe I should go a hunting for it and install HL again.

Just a sec, you actually uninstalled HL? Shame on you!

Unfortunately, I've never heard of this mod, but it sounds quite interesting. Then again, there are plenty of interesting ones. Ever try Point of Veiw?

Maybe Psych reinstalled Windows and hasn't gotten around to installing HL1 yet because he hasn't had the desire to play it. People do reinstall their OS you know.

Close, after crossing continents and leaving 40 pounds of ageing pc hardware in England, I have a new pc and I haven't had a reason to instal HL1 yet, considering I'm playing through HL: Source right now. It has purty shinies on the walls and the rippley water makes me drool spit! And ever since UT2003 I've been fornicating over ragdoll physics...
I want me a TF update before I cry. I was a huge TF player back in 2000.

I remember that sp level, quite good. There was another cool part where you walk by the "test chamber" just as the "incident" occured. It also made use of the maintainance man model (which was in the HL1 SDK but never utilized). Honestly, I dont remember how it ended either.

You know, I recall hearing something about this mod ages ago. Even saw a screenshot, I think. Never played it, though. Guess I should've, eh? The level design certainly sounds interesting, anyway.

Yeah I thought case closed was an impressive mod, I liked the Terminator theme tune at the end of the game. Shame that Bobs fate wasn't left open for possibly a sequel.

Entirely by coincidence I saw this on ModDB yesterday and played through it. It was fun, but at one point I hit F6 instead of F7 and found both my quicksave and autosave had me on 1 health. I had to cheat from there and couldn't really be bothered to play through it normally. Lots of fun, though. :)

Hey, thanks for the info.

my head hurts already

Yeah, I've played it. It was the first SP mod for HL I downloaded. It's okay, if only a little too easy. The levels are cool, despite the shortness of the game...the ending is pretty sad...poor Bob...I never realized the G-Man was so cruel...

Question.

Since I have Half-Life: Source now, can I still play the old mods? I'm guessing not.

Nope, as it uses an entirely different engine structure, using Quake 1 models and the like. It's be nice if somebody took on the task of converting it though, in pretty much the same way as HL was.
