CD-Key Question

I have been a member here for a while but never posted, and finally I have a question, I tried seaching but could not come up with anything. I bought the Collectors Edition HL2 retail package, and I was wondering if I could use the cd key out of that to install all the games it came with. I don't want to install them from the DVD because then I have to put it in everytime I want to play, but I want to use the cd-keys to download and validate the games that come with the package so they don't need a DVD to run. Will this work for every game that came in the package?

all the dvd is is just the files you dont need it to run the game thats what steam is for. once you input the cd key into your account it will stay in your account forever and you use that to log in and presto all your games are there. even if you didnt have the dvd you can use steam to download them

Valve just made us use teh CD/DVD to run HL2 for the first month then they updated it nicely! It was only to stop pirates I believe... some security thing... but now it is the game you don't even have to look for to play.. asides from solitare... but that isn't much fun
