I have a small source dedicated server, I would like to change the logon screen to have the clans name and a few other items. How do I access the file and is there a site with all the commands for font, color, etc.? Do I need software to access this file (like ent_ed for maps)?

Thanks,

Carl

I think he is.

Here's more info: http://www.counterwiki.com/index.php/Motd.txt

To customize your server, there are two files you need to modify. The first one is in the \half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\cfg folder. Open Notepad and open the valve.rc file. In that file, you will see a command hostname "Half-Life 2 Deathmatch". Change the "Half-Life 2 Deathmatch" portion to the name of your server. This is the name that will appear on the master list of Internet games.
In the \half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp folder, make a new text file with Notepad called motd.txt. In this file, put some information about your server there, like rules and such. This will first appear when people connect to your server.

All I have on that computer is: dedicated server and source dedicated server. There is no Half-Life 2 Deathmatch\hl2mp\cfg file, only .gcf. The Half-Life games are on the other computer. There is a steamapps\username\source dedicated server\hl2mp, but that's it.

OK, I got it to work, thanks for the info. Any suggestions on a server.cfg file that will plug in net_maxfilesize, mp_flashlight...etc, without doing it manually every time I turn on the server? Can it include commands like mag size and player speed? Is there any way to change the default map when the server starts? Sorry, this is my first server and I don't know anything.

I made a server.cfg and installed it under cfg folder. Everything runs good except the voice is a little garbled. Lag is non-existant. I would like to know how to access the srcds.exe to change the tick rate to 66.....suggestions?
