Choosing a LCD - Help

Alright... so my current CRT, which is no longer under warranty, is starting to crap out on me. I'm thinking I have maybe another month before it totaly stops working.

So now I've been looking into LCDs for the past few weeks. I'm not looking to spend too much over $300 for one. And size wise, all I really need is a 19" (I dont really care about widescreen at this point, since it's far from standard).

From what I've read, if your going to be doing a lot of gaming, you want one with a low latency (between 2 - 8ms) responce time, I guess this effects ghosting or whatever. And I guess you want one with a nice contrast ratio as well (maybe between 500:1 - 1000:1)

So for my budget and size that I want (19"), what can you guys recommend to me?

I've already been looking into the following:

I love my samsung, their warranty and support, that's why I'm recommending it to you http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001081 and it is in your price range.
It is wide screen. The only down side is that, you have to bring your speakers.

Good Luck.

No worries on that, I have speakers and headphones.
Looks like a nice monitor. I'll add it to my "looking at" list. It seems to have a decent responce time (6ms) and a nice contrast ratio too.
You havent noticed any ghosting or anything while playing fast-paced games?
TrustedReviews seemed like like yours though.

Thanks!

Go widescreen - It may not be as commonplace right now, but it IS a standard - all new graphics cards support widescreen resolutions, as do most old cards with new drivers. Get something with a DVI input as analog D-SUB is just inferior in every way.

Make sure that you get a DVI-D cable with it. Those things can be expensive.

Yeah, my video card dosent even have a D-sub connector, I have to use an adaptor to change the DVI to d-sub for my monitor.

Here is another one I'm looking at:

1000:1 contrast ratio and 5ms responce makes this one looks pretty damn good.

I ordered the Viewsonic VX2025wm earlier today. Those Samsungs are good but most of them only have 16.2 million colors and I need 16.7 due to graphical work. This monitor is supposed to be a good all around monitor, like playing XBOX 360 on :D

Yeah, because 16.2 million just isn't enough.

16.2 million is only 256.000 colors or something like that but those LCD's can make up 16.2 or something.

Well, my monitor has reached the next level of "crapping out".
So I'm pretty much set on buying something really soon. Right now, Barney's Samsung is looking really good.
