Hi there, i am Peabnuts123 and i am currently working on a mod for half-life 2 and deathmatch. It is called City of Destruction (although if no-one likes it it can be changed). Currently the main concept of the mod is basically a fun multiplayer game (with optional singleplayer) that allows players to fight (or whatever they wanted, possible inf health servers?) in a completely destructible enviroment, except the ground of course.
I am yet to discover a very effective way of making lots of things breakable, so i am currently working on researching different techniques and testing them out. Currently the CoD team is a 1 man band, me(obviously). I am in dire need of a coder to help create weapon's effects.
I have plans at the moment for the following weapons:
Gravity Rifle-basically a strong gravity gun, remodelled into a rifle type weapon, except it doesnt have the alt-fire hold and then fire, just blast, but with more range.
High Powered Explosive(C4)-Similar to a SLAM except obviously remodelled and has no trip-wire function, can be layed on wall, but is only remote-detonation
Low Powered Explosive(?)-This isn't a very important feature, and may get dropped, but i just thought that there could be a sort of small C4 in which they could be placed strategically around buildings and detonated to cause havoc (bad pun).
Crowbar-This would be basically the normal crowbar, but with better animations, and possibly more/less power to add realism. Again, this is of secondary importance, and may get dropped.
I also head ideas for an airstrike of some sort and maybe a better rocket launcher, but the ones listed are basically what i have in mind for the moment.
Anyways, i think this post should supply you with enough information. If you have any questions or feel i have missed out something, please feel free to ask.
Here is a refined list on what Positions are Available/Taken:
Hammer Map Maker: Open
-Requirements: Needs to be able to create a fairly decent city and possible create a large score of constraint entitys...:burp:
Coder: Open
-Requirements: Needs to be able to create the effects for all the weapons listed above. I think weapons creation is another thing so i'll say here that the coder does not need to be able to create weapons.
3d Modeller: Thats me, any extra help is welcome.
Texture Design: If it comes to the point where we need any extra textures, i can probably do this. Although, if anyone is offering, we'll take the offer.
Weapon Creater: This could be me if i read some tutorials and managed to figure out this process, although i tried once long ago and i gave up in the effort required.
-Requirements: I would like this person to be able to tell me (or any other possible 3d modellers) what sort of files we need to give, and then create a weapon out of them.
Sound Gatherer: This is most likely going to be me, i think anyone can dig around on the internet for sounds so i'll volunteer.
