Anyone play this super hero (or rather: super badguy) MMORPG made by NCSoft? It's out for 20 euro's now over here (including one month subscription), which seems like a bargain for such a recent game. The only MMORPG's I played were WoW and GW. I liked both.

I tried City of Heroes. I didn't like it that much. The missions were like - go into this building - spawn in some randomly generated bland looking coridoor with rooms - kill all the bad guys - mission end.

It reminded me of Anarchy Online.

When it came out, city of heroes was a very refreshing, entertaining mmorpg, which stood out from all the rest with its UNBELIEVABLY incredible character creation system, which provided the possibility for countless unique superheroes.

The gameplay was nice for a while, with quite alot of variation, interesting level design(especially in certain areas like faultline).

But in time, at least for me and all my friends who played it back when it was first released... it became old and stale, mainly because there wasn't enough variety. It seemed like you were doing the same thing over and over again with different bad guys.

The real charm of the game that right from the beginning, you were out fighting crime, pretty nasty guys which was uncomparable with other mmorpgs that had you killing bunnies at a low level.

yeah, I had similar experience. I played it when pcg had the free 14 day trial or whatever, and it was fun then, but it got old pretty fast. Not nearly enough variety

Same same with CoV. I had a 2 month subscription. It wasn't worth it.

It's a good quality product, but it doesn't have the hold factor that WoW does.

I'll prolly won't play it longer than that one month I get with the game. Will it keep me busy that long?

Oh yes definitely, if you play it alot, and stick with it... You'll get quite an enjoyment out of it if you've never played it before I think.

At least, if you hold the right mindset that you're going to have fun, and keep an open mind for enjoyment.

Too bad. In stead of City of Villains I bought a WoW gamecard today. I found out that CoV was more instance-based like Guild Wars. I played WoW before and one of the best aspects for me was the persistence of the world. On a long trip you can bump into total stranger, have a good chat and make a new friend. I also like exploring and the world of Azeroth is a lot bigger than the City of Villains.

Mmm-hmmm. City of Villains is a very instance based-game. I got lonely in the instances.
