Combine, G-Man, and Earth theories

I don't know if this is mentioned at all yet, just thought id quick post it before i forget :) You'll have to forgive me if i use the wrong names

Breen (the administrator?) is in on whatever game the Gman plays. I noticed this at the end of HL2, He says to you, before he tries to teleport away Eli and Alyx, something like "did you know your services are open to the highest bidder, Freeman?". I originally figured yeh between our resistancy guys, and the law and government of the time. But Gman makes a similar comment after he takes you away, that there's been alot of bids for his services. Seems Breen knows more about Gman and Freeman's purpose than Freeman probably does. guess we'll never know with the zapping and the explosions now

Yup, kinda already said, but true.

I'm just confused to why everyone says the G-man didn't have anything to do with the first portal in HL1 going kablooie. You see him several times before that incident, so how does everyone suppose he had no hand in it? What was he doing there otherwise?

Either he:

a) Was there to cause it

b) Knew it was going to happen anyway, and did nothing to stop it.

Think about it. He wouldn't be there if the portal wasn't going to blow up, because none of the following events would have happened. So whether or not he caused it, he had to know it was going to happen. I don't see any way that people can say he had no part in it.

The portal blowing up, and everything that followed, had to be part of his plan. Perhaps he NEEDED the portal to blow up. Perhaps Gordon Freeman is the only one who could defeat the Combine, and yes, the G-Man caused the resonance cascade so that he could gain control of Gordon, and stop his enemies, the Combine. I don't think the G-Man is much concerned with earth or humans in particular. He is using Gordon to his own ends. For all we know, the G-Man caused everything that happened on Earth, because the ends suited the means, the ends being the final defeat of the Combine that's still yet to come.

It is logical that we will go off planet in HL3 (not that VALVe is logical) we need to kill the combine master.

Also in several parts of the game it does indicete that combine teloportation is shit that's thy they want Alyx's father.

This indicates the technoligy is new to the combine and yes they prob did need to use Nililith to port to different plannets (before they had this technology).

I'm still not sure why the combine were nowhere in HL1 (out getting a beer?)

Oh yeah and i guess the game is in the future because it took the combine time to develop teleportation.

Can the next HL be set in the past (e.g. stop combine before they come to earth and save Alyx)?

Actually going to the Combine homeworld or whereever they have set up their base of operations is only one possible senario.
I myself believe you will see the Combine either fall or grow stronger from the sidelines and you'll be involved in some other "battle" which has a small impact on what goes on in the rest of the universe of Half-Life.

I'd rather see the later.

again, no offence, but mostly already said

i have some questions about the xen world, is it like in another universe/galaxy or something? cuz in it the sky is sometimes all black, nebula, or even huge cells?? this doesnt make much sence with the cells as it looks like somehow shrunk in a smaller but bigger world

I think that right after you killed Nihilanth at the end oh HL1 you teleport with gman as he shows Xen, but I don't think that is Xen scince it is much different (cells of something living in the background? never seen those in xen before, and little more different architecture) and then gman shows you different places and you see a little glimpse of what looks like to be at the end of the 7 hour war (with the dead soldiers in the battleground) could this possibly be the combine world?

People, for goodness sakes, people!! HL1 can only bring de ja vu to hl2. remember, they "weren't" expecting hl2 back then. if they were, then there's way too much to question... anyhow, as for my theories...

Combine Theory(1): A far superior race, a combination of an animal species/human/mech.
Combine Theory(2): Notice that BARNEY was a combine in the beginning. And I personally wouldn't think that it would easy just to walk in and get a job in their places without getting recognized as human. So combines may be human.
Combine Theory(3): *SPOILER* may be that they're cheap bastards, I mean, you can't enter the Citadel without getting all your weapons stolen and left with a damn gravity gun... oh, wait! It becomes unnaturally powerful...

Earth Theory: In my opinion, you've just been sucked into a place when the combine (refer to combine theories) have either:
1) found Earth and taken it over to try to make it match their demands, by mining, in particular.
(may be considered a combine theory) 2) Breen made them after Black Mesa by trying to merge things, or just gave the army kick assed suits and tazers and weapons that hurt like hell. Breen eventually made/got more and more and then they all became his guards, to protect an experiment beyond anyones expectations.
3) the mining thing is cool, in my opinion. Though, are they trying to mine for the core for super heat for mass energy? Trying to find rich oil deposits and be greedy and use them for their reasons? Gold, maybe? Some sort of super condensed iron to form more powerfull weapons/ships/etc.? To mine things Earth doesn't need but other planets might need? As said before, gold?

G-Man Theory: I like the topic starters theory on G-Man.
1) I think he's from the future, trying to stop error. G-Man may be a futuristic version of Freeman [G-Man, (G)ordon(-)free(MAN)] that may be wanting to make the past better, because he's seen enough error and corruption in the future, made a time machine, and watched to see how he did in his past *notice that he's in a lot of weird places*
2/3) *Look at topic starters ideas*

In response to Combine Theory 2: Maybe HL3 will bring notice to you that Barney is really on the Combine side...

But, that is a pretty big leap. Probably won't be the case given that the combine were attacking Barney in Follow Freeman.

So, nevermind...

When HL1 was delayed and redesigned, a HL 'bible' was created, containing the general storyline of Half-Life and it's sequels. It was decided then that HL would be a trilogy. So, yes, they were 'expecting HL2 back then'.

Hence the rest of that sentence, rather than the begining.
And if you are trying to crack at a joke, i find it humourous. Ha *coughs* Sorry, havent laughed in a while.

EDIT: paragraph, same thing...

well i dont think the real combine are humans, but the overwatch soldiers are modified humans. Check the naked soldier model out in the model viewer in the SDK.

THE G-MAN IS NOT GORDAN FREEMAN FROM THE FUTURE. REPEAT AFTER ME: THE G-MAN IS NOT GORDAN FREEMAN FROM THE FUTURE.

HALF-LIFE IS NOT BASED ON TIME TRAVEL. REPEAT AFTER ME: HALF-LIFE IS NOT BASED ON TIME TRAVEL.

Can we finally rule this theory out now?

TELEPORTATION THEORY

I don't think Valve would do something so stupid unless they had a good reason behind it. The only time travel involved in the HL series is forward time travel having to do with teleportation. Some teleports are slower like the G-Man's teleport of you from Xen in HL1 to City 17 in HL2, which took 10 years (i think). Also that teleport from Nova Prospect to Kliener's lab took a week. The rate of teleport has something to do with "dark energy equations" according to Dr. Mossman and maybe transfer rate through Xen. When you teleport you go to Xen (the border world between dimensions) and then to the location you wanted to teleport to. Xen is a dimension that enables teleportation.
