Combine homeworld

In end of Half-life 2 when is open dark fusion reactor and teleport device, teleport emitt some sort of mirror. And in this mirror reflect other side of portal - mayby Combine homeworld! Its not new but I think its interesting. Here is screen.

I doubt its Xen. The combine have inhabited thousands of worlds across thousands of dimensions...why would they send him to the border world, or more importantly thier home planet?

Because it's a boarder world, you must go to it to get to other places.

Not when using combine teleportation, they tunnel straight through to thier own universe.

From the multiple Citadel sized buildings that were visible, it must be somewhere that the Combine have been for a while, and somewhere quite important, but I too doubt it's their homeworld.

Exactly. From what you hear of the exchange between him and the Combine Overlord, it sounds like he has to beg for them just to save him at all:

"It's me you should be concerned about!"
"The portal destination is untenable, surely you can set the relay elsewhere?"

My guess is that it's some kind of automated industrial world so heavily polluted that most living things can't survive.

You have to remember that the portal destination was most likely originally where Breen intended to send Eli and Alyx, that's why Breen was so insistent on changing the destination because he knew all to well that there was no way he could survive there.

A good point though I'm still in two halves on the outcome of that conversation, due to the fact you don't actually hear what the advisor says as its physcic.

i think the idea of that being the combine home world is possible. it obviously is a combine infested place with all those citatels. maybe not the 'homeworld' but definatley a place taken over by the combine. i think it was the same place he was going to send alyx and eli because he knew the combine there would deal with them (like do crazy experiments or something), i think breen was going to go there because he thought he was in good standing with the combine and would be safe among a 'more evolved' planet with the aliens he loves so much.

The combine control many planets, so its safe to assume whereever he sends them its not going to be a pleasant place.

I actually don't think those are Citadels, more like massive relay stations to allow teleportation between universes - exactly how Mossman described em.

Naww, the Citadels are way too efficient to only be used on Earth.

And I think the Combine have got the art of cow-tipping down to a T. That, and they probably do loads of cattle mutilations, anyways.

And they're so effective because they were tailor-made for the Earth invasion. They would be far less effective on a world without cities and next to useless on a world like Xen.

ok their's no "combine" homeworld so to speak, but this "Universal Union" must have come from somewhere eons ago. My guess is that they were forced to abandon their planet and were all pissed off about so they took it out on everyone elses planet. I have it in mind that the true combine (or the universal union) are the slug like advisors correct?

What are you talking about? There are no combine on Earth. Just Synths and human soldiers with combine technology. The combine homeworld is out there somehwere - the combine were a race that grew to dependant on technology. Go read raising the bar.

I dunno, think it's possible that there's no Combine homeworld. I reckon that the Combine, whatever it once was, is now a massive empire which is made up more out of what it has conquered, than the original conquerors. Perhaps there's an extremely low number of the Advisor race left, but the remaining ones achieved a kind of immortality by dependence on machines, and subjugating/forcefully evolving races in order to do their will.

Maybe they exhausted all the resources on their home planet millenia ago, then spread out and moved on. So that all the Combine is now is like a big metal cloud with no real centre, moving through different dimensions. Just an idea.
