Combines arrival?

I was watching the E3 video for around about the 40th time and was wondering do you think that the combine are on Earth when Gordan wakes up , or do you suppose we will see an invasion of the combine and you kinda start to see it all happen before you??

Can't wait to find out, in the mean time your guys thoughts??

I think it'd actually be more interesting if you woke up with all this stuff going on around you. The Combine structures rising out of the ground, Combine soldier attacks on various parts of the city, etc. It'd all add to the confusion and suspense of the situation.

hmmm, you could be onto something there man. Thats one of the only ways of introducing the combine without having the game totally separate itself from reality, thats what made HL so good, it was totaly believable.

I agree with frances_farmer - the whole idea is that you learn as you go along. Things make more sense (relatively) as more information becomes apparent. This would include the Combine's purpose and origins. Part of the appeal is the mystery and seeing how they arrive would detract from that - if they're just there, you wonder what the hell's happened in the 2 minutes you've been away (or comatose). Valve always did say they'd throw you in at the deep end for the start of this. Oh God I can't wait.

It'd be cool to just wake up and then be forced to go with other citizens like the ones from the barricade vid and such, like go through controlpoints and stuff and suddenly you meet like Eli, Alyx or Barney telling you to come with them and stuff.. Like most warprisoner-movies kinda.

I reckon Gordon awakes in a Combine interrogation room, and they keep slapping you with a leather glove. A wall explodes, and in the midst the dust is DOG, and barney.
