If Gamespot's criticisms (especially in light of other reviews) seemed fair and balanced, a 9.2 would have people more upset about HalfLife2's quality (even though that's a bit silly) than upset at Gamespot. As it stands, it seems apparant that if games like Halo2 and San Andreas (both fabulous games, but both rehashes) can score consistently higher than another so-called rehash like Half Life 2, there's at least a little bias involved. Come on, 8.5 for Deus Ex is frickin' stupid.

Assuming you are right, then why did San Andreas get higher? (Haven't tried Halo2, so I'll refrain from making comments about that one.) Same gameplay as the two others, not very major changes. Graphics aren't even near to mediocre. Story? Decent, nothing mindblowing. Gameplay is basically the same old GTA gameplay. We all know it, nothing new, nothing revolutionary.

Yeah... the reason people don't trust the GS review is because it's the opposite of all other reviews. All other reviews so far (IGN included) really seem much, much different.
