Is it possible to convert a map from HL2:dM to CS:S? If so, how easy is it?

I would love to play the dm_gasworks map in CS:S. Maybe someone else has already converted it?

Let me know,

-Dave

I think the only difference is the types of entities that each game would use.
Ie, you wouldn't use an info_player_deathmatch in a css map.
So yes, I suppose its as simple as putting in the proper spawns and recompiling. Now your real problem lies in the fact that, unless you made the map yourself, you're going to have to decompile and fix up the .vmf that you get so its playable again, and usually its not worth your trouble.

You might, might, come across textures or models that don't convert right. And the decompile can have errors. It seems like it'd be a major pain in the ass.

YIKES! Can you repeat that in English please?

Seriously though, I tried using the editing tools once and got annoyed with it. I guess that won't be happening. Oh well. There are plenty of other great maps to play.

Thanks,

-Dave

If you went the route of trying to decompile,... converting the actual map file into the file you work on and use in Hammer, the decompiler isn't an official thing, it's really just meant to look and see how valve did some things on their maps. So that being said, it won't make an exact copy of what the original work file was, it's only esimating. Going from hl2dm to css might bring about problems with textures, the "picture" on well..everything that makes it look like wood/metal/grass...., not working in css. Models or objects also might not work in both. But that is just speculation for the worst.
