Today i would like to announce Discovery, a short Single Player addon to half-life 2. This game follows the story of a person. Discovery is split up into complete "episodes" which will be released 1 at a time. As each episode is released you will learn more about your character.
The First episode starts of in a small town.
You will make your way through town talking to the people that inhabit it. You are free to roam anywere you like.
Accomplishing tasks for the people will get you closer to your destination. You can choose to help them or not. Some will reward you with valuable information and some may even give you items you could need later in your adventure.

Thats a good idea of a mod, but it sounds alittle creepy :D

Hmm... sounds cool to me... I cant wait to try it out.
 
So it's kind of like a non-linear RPG where you can go on quests and do little missions around the town, while discovering who you are (like Jason Bourne in the Bourne Identity)? That sounds cool, I am glad someone is doing this. I will definetly check this out when you release it.

When you say short, what do you mean - what should we expect for gameplay time per episode? I hope not TOO short. I hope to see an interesting story as you discover your character with cliffhangers at the end of each episode (but still having questions from last episode answered). I hope to see some cool puzzles that take some real thinking, not "oh I know what to do in 5 seconds" - but also that make sense and are realistic.

It would be nice to seem some stealth gameplay, like maybe we have a quest where we have to break into a house or office or something to get information without being detected - that would be cool. Also branching dialogue choices when talking to characters would be a nice implementation.

Multiple ways to complete a quest would be nice as well. Will there be a money system where we can go to a shop to buy items? It would be nice to have freedom in our exploration like you were saying - perhaps we can find little clues scattered about when we explore that hint at the world around us and who our character is? Maybe we will be able to find secret areas? Steal stuff from people's houses?

Will you be able to make it so the things we collect and accomplish on each episode will be saved and carried over?

Anyway maybe those suggestions are beyond the scope of what you were thinking, but hey just some food for thought. Looking forward to playing it!
 
This is an awsome Idea.
Cant wait to try this out when it is completed.
I hope its soon.
 
Those maps are nice, but a bit bland. Most of the time there's just blank spaces. :)
 
One question:

Will there be biozeminades?
 
Foggy town...hmmmm is that to disguise the blandness or just for the atmosphere? :P Well, looks nice anyway, hopefully there'll be biozeminades :D
 
it looks like there will be day/ night levels, but will it constantly cycle or change depending on progress? also, will it be more action or puzzle orientated, and will there even be any weapons in ep 1. i like the ideas about cliffhangars too, likke, somthing suddenly makes sense, but it also catapults you into new situations.
 
Looks good. God, I need some new single player maps nowwww! :(
 
this sounds like it has potential to be pretty cool.

and guys, dont you get it? you ARE a biozeminade in this mod. god...pay attention...
