Was just wondering how many people are experiencing crashes, whilst playing HL2DM? I have had no crashes whatsoever throughout the single player game, and to be honest I've had less than 10 crashes in HL2DM (over probably just as much playing time as I've put into single player).
However, I have just had a major system crash 10 minutes ago, bringing the entire system to a complete halt. The game just froze with my crosshair over someone's leg, trying to escape up the stairs ;)
I can't even remember the last crash I had in any game/application that completely froze the system, as Windows XP has been extremely reliable IMO. They are also unacceptable to me, in this age of gaming, so I hope that was my first and last (I generally run other applications whilst playing).
Any input on this, and suggestions to avoid further mishaps?? :|

HL2DM never crashes for me during the game, but frequently crashes during map changes. Frequently as in 25% of the time. Annoying as hell it is.

Same thing happens to a friend too, just as consistently, though while he gets "cannot find woodgib01ablah.mdl" errors (cache verification doesn't help), I always get "Map version 2347230984723, expected 4" kind of errors. Whatever. gogo valve.

Memory crashes are probably the most common crash I would think. Sometimes durint matche 3-4 players can crash at the same time and most likely of the same thing. It's very frustrating when it happens over and over while playing official matches, and combined with the scoreboardbugs it's very hard to keep track of the real score which is all important during those matches :/

I've never got the memory errors that a lot of people have experienced with HL2DM, but I do get the freezes. It's the only game I have that will freeze and my system completely locks up, forcing me to reboot. It's been doing this since the last update. ;(

Have you tried just pressing Esc when it freezes? I had that too, and nothing could get it away, so I had to boot. I could start and stop Winamp etc. with the controllers on my keyboard, so the machine worked fine behind the freezed game. But when I tested just pressing Esc when it happens after it freezes and stops using CPU etc., then it just drops out and I can restart it. It's because the error messages is actually behind the game and you can't see it. If this is the same thing that is :)

Run the game in ultra-widescreen windowed, then you not only get more in your view, you get winamp and aim windows on the bottom and you can switch windows instantly. No alt-tab entering to clear mem errors either.

Just had another one, well annoyed

No, I've had the memory crashes before too, they're not so much of a problem. These are fatal crashes requiring a system restart (CTRL-ALT-DEL x2 won't even restart the computer). Very, very frustrating - particularly when your PC takes about 4-5 minutes to reboot ;(
