I'd like to see a game where you get a soldering iron, a jiggsaw, a reciprocating saw, a drill, infact, a whole toolcase, and you have to make your weapons out of scraps you find lying around the city (HL2's physics/ HAVOK II physics pls).

Bowling ball, a trashcan, and some lead pipes can become a catapault. Weld the pipes together, bolt the trashcan to the pipes, and all you need is a fulcrum and something heavy (bodies). Load the bowling ball into the trashcan, put the bodies in a giant bag and staple them to the opposite end, and let all hell lose!

Grenade and some wire becomes a tripmine. Don't think I need to explain this.

Solder a long strand of wire to a switch, switch to a mains line, and you've got a good zaparizer for sneaky kills. You'd need a ton of health kits to get that mains line soldered to the switch though :/

Anybody else think a game like this would pwn?

Genius! :D The mischeif of Garry's Mod turned into a full game!

I think it would work best in the next generation of games running on PPUs. For advanced pysics-based carnage.

Why HL2's physics? :| Do you realise that would be very limited? It's funny you should want a game like this seeing as the PhysX chip just came out and yet you want older physics that would NOT be able to handle what you are talking about.

The new capabilities of physics with the chip will definitely be able to handle what you are describing, with liquid physics (I heard you mention soldering) and even metal bending and tearing dynamically. Yes it would be an awesome game :D

Would be good, wouldn't work with Havok (or at least Source). But would get old once everyone discovers the 'ultimate' weapon you can make.

Eh? I don't see how that's possible since it's not like you can only place parts in certain locations at certain angles. You can DO anything you want. And even IF there was an ultimate weapon, how would it get old? You still have to FIND the necessary materials to make it. And plus, this ultimate weapon you describe would probably be an exploit, which can be fixed with a patch, or if need be, remove the material from the game.

the physics card is out on the market now???

It's available in some gaming PCs. I don't think you can buy it by itself yet. They say it will cost $300 US.

You can buy'em seperately, OCUK shipped off their preorders today/yesterday I think, according to Gorgon.:)

This combined with my construction idea game... <drools> You could be hiding away in your home, boarded together with tin sheets, manically forging weapons inside to use against the citizens of the city.

You could be the Refuse Reaper!

Hehehe, if you had ALLOT of time on your hands, you could put together a rail gun, dumpsters welded together and filled with water for capacitors :D

Yeah it would be fun, but it would need something other then a mouse and keyboard for input control....perhaps some gloves that can be tracked in 3D :O

If I had a game that combined the most advanced physics ever and the ability to manufacture materials for my every need with the intention of building the ultimate weapon, then I would craft a board with a nail in it.

Sounds like a game for the Revolution.

Yeah - get a remote in each hand, and you've got two-handed spatial control over objects, in 3D space. :)

I doubt the rev could handle the physics tho

lol wow im really tired i thought you said spatula control at first, but really that would be cool

Yeah, it's sad the Rev doesn't have the PPU, it would be so perfect for it since it has that full space controller. Yet it would bring the price of the unit way up, so...
