Well, I have just had a look at the www.incrysis.com website and they have new content straight from GDC2007. The first vid is a techdemo of cyrengine2. Although half of the content is what we have already seen, I urge you not to purge it from you harddrive as the other half of it contains new content, including a nuclear explosion (Yes you heard me right). Wit the next-gen renderer, the explosion at the end of FEAR pales in comparison.

The second vid is of the WYSIWYP editor, which is interesting as to how simple it looks to play. I?ve got the videos below, if the links don?t work, download it straight from the site.
The first of these is the same video which Gamespot mentioned earlier today.

The second video is a tutorial of the Level Editor, showing some of the amazing things which are possible with it.

well, I've just seen these and holy mother of god!

16 km view distance. The nuke!. The tools.. I want.

Also the fact that in one of the interviews someone said Crysis will run 'sweet' on high end machines that are upto 3 years old thanks to some fancy polygon occlusion system Crytek are using.

The scene with your team mates prone in the grass then one of them gets up and throws a nade is pretty much seamless :O.

Epic win.

Yeah I noticed it too whilst watching the editor vid when he went to wireframe, I'm guessing this gives a more literal term to 'What you see is what you play'

Indeed, it's quite clever, and it always works seeing as when you have more in the foreground to render you have more to occlude the middle to background, so you have constant adjustments happening so you can keep the detail high where it counts and the frame rate smooth.

Got to love that nuke though, It's like the end of F.E.A.R except real time, how awesome is that.. the way everything reacts to the explosion is definately on par with Alan Wake.

Ah, well I think it's naturally a good idea to have a realtime editor where you can jump in at any point and test at the click of a button. Pretty awesome really, no compile times now that they have done away with light maps completely :D.

May I ask, does the nuke actually have any effect on the environment, or is it just a fancy particleeffect?:p

Take a look at the vid :P

The shock wave properly disintigrates the buildings with force into an uncountable amount of pieces.

EDIT: nvm it works now. Wow thats just amazing!Cant wait till i get my hands on that mapping tool, modding is going to be godlike!

Watch the damn video. It looks like those old movies of nuke tests where everything gets blown into little tiny pieces.

My God... Crysis may not be the smartest game ever, but damn if it isn't the most beautiful and technologically advanced.

That shock wave gave me goosebumps.

That wasn't quite what I meant, that was fairly given, but what I meant is will it actually leave a huge crater that's dynamically shaped?

I want dynamic radiation burns and sloughing skin and projectile vomiting, with physics driven teeth and hair falling out. please.

not fair we are JUST now getting games like this, stupid kids these days got it good

this really is a revolution in terms of gaming technology. i couldnt of imagined we had consumer computers capable of showing this much detail (or that someone would even make an engine this detailed).

Youtube video of the special effects.

it owns ALAN Awake.. tornado physics system.

daaaaam!!!!

I am upgrading next summer.

Gorgon, you are so full of shit, neither games are out yet, and we have been shown very little on Alan Wake, so just stfu about what owns what, ok doll?

That was pretty amazing. Can't deny the graphics and engine behind this is probably the best if not one of the best engines around.

When the guy shot the tyre out on the speeding jeep it looked awesome! And the nuke was very nice. I want. Shame I aint got DX10 :(

Calm down, mate, you're all tense. *rubs shoulders* :E

I can say that this is absolutely amazing. The editor video is so awesome. I cant wait any longer!

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Exploding-head.gif

Can I get a back rub too?

This engine is going to be awesome for the mod scene.

You get a back rub

I wonder if all buildings and structures are made in 3rd party tools, or if the editor has some sort of tools for making primitives

hmm I always thought you were a retard.... if you compare both the vids from alan and crysis you will get my point, you fooking stupid retard. next time you reply to this post I'll ignore..u

Nah they said in the video that the structures are imported from maya or 3dmax... Thats the only thing I don't like about cryengine, you have to use tools you have to pay for to build your own structures.

Holy shit:eek: ! I want this game now!

That nuke explosion was bad ass, however I kind of doubt that this game will run "fluently" on a 3 year old rig....

Depends how optimized the game engine is, plus how high the settings are. But like me and clarky were discussing, Cryengine2 has polygon occlusion. Say, if an object is blocking the view in front of you, the polygons in scenery that you can't see is being eliminated or reduced in realtime to give a more optimized performance

I'll have to go visit god when this game comes out, maybe his rig can run it:laugh:

really though this game looks a generation ahead of all the other games out there:rolling:

I just played Crysis today actually.

It was the level that ended with the helicopter fighting.

Naturally, it was running on DX10 mode.

The suit mod system is pretty tight and does pretty much force you to make decision before combat. It's not exactly quick to use as a noob, nor is the weapon system fast to use.

The game does look great and does encourage you to use your environment a bit. It also allows you to sort of be "realistic" in situations such as shooting the tail rotor of the helicopter and such.

Guys there is a thread for Crysis media so use it ! Like anyone cares :(

Nice! Bravo to the chaps at Crytek who are so focused on the little details.

That video just Blew me away. Pun intended. But seriously, if that last segment was ingame, then that was the most awesome effect i've ever seen.
