Colonel Cubbage due for a come back special in Episode 2? He seems to be such a minor character in HL2 not to come back :(
Perhaps the fisherman in Lost Coast, both can have some sort of appearance . Reason with me D:

It would be a change, rather than seeing Alyx, or a humble vortigaunt.

Maybe he tags along with you like Alyx in Episode 1, but he only gives advice on what to do.

If there is a God, then we will never see Odessa again...maybe its his english accent, but I just get irritated around him...

The fisherman is currently busy eating leeches in his lonely condo at St-Olga, I don't think we'll see him back :(

I'm sure if we are to see Odessa again in ep2 it would be in a rebel shack of some sort which he will probably stay there while you dispose of some striders/hunters outside or he could be at the silo base with everyone else.
I think that maybe we will get to see a lot of returning characters but I'm sure that in ep2 many if not all of them will die so we will get more of that dark feeling in this episode.

i think we'll see him again in ep2 nd maybe get to see him die

Since he just appeared because Valve didn't want to just give you the rocket launcher without some exposition, I doubt we'll see him again. He's essentially just a running gag.

I think we're more likely to hear about him than to see him (and I don't think we're all that likely to hear about him).

It's kinda funny that the last word on Cubbage ("What an idiot!") was spoken by another gratutiously recurring character--the Resistance fighter consoling his moping girlfriend on the couch in "Urban Flight."

He'll rip off his Moustache and meet you on the Borealis. Of course, the Borealis is now a creepy ghost train and Cubbage is a colleague of the G-Man.

Leaving the fate of minor characters unknown is a good thing, IMO. It's also more realistic.

Someone also says that he claimed to have taken down the first Gunship.

I'd like to see him in Ep2, heading into a building for cover as the Combine make an assault.

By chance, it's the first building the strider uses this dark energy blast on.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cubbage again, maybe he could even take up Odell's old role? :P

Equally, I wouldn't care if he didn't show up or wasn't even mentioned.

Cubbage returns in a Spitfire and starts shooting down gunships.

And my personal "horray" to whoever it was I stole that off.... :bonce:

Perhaps, but it's always frustrating and reality bending that you can't simply ask characters 'so, what's the shit with Cubbage then?'

i can't remember somewhere in ep1 or the rebellion in hl2, one of the safehouses

No, it can be heard on Ep1. After the part when you get to rebel safehouse, where you can shoot that TV with special Alyx scene, there is kind of easter egg. When you try to go back there, you can hear them talking about Cubbage and so. I can't remember exactly when that was. I remember that you had to do something wrong, and go back. Happened to me on 2nd playtime.

I don't think they talk about how he took the gunship down, I played it yesterday and they talked about what an idiot he is.

They wouldn't allow that to happen with major characters. Since Cubbage appeared just for such a brief moment and played such a minor role, it would not cause outrage in the player population because he was not important enough in that sense. However, it does add the mystery of the story when the fates of minor characters are not revealed.

Besides, the reappearances of those characters to help the player in some similar way to the past are kinda cliched, in a way. :P

They give Cubbage credit for taking down the gunship at the exact same place when you hear them saying bad things about Kliner and how they miss the Combine.

I've played through that scene a few times, but don't recall hearing anything about the gunship.

The real question is, will the whingeing couple be back for Episode 2? Perhaps, crowded into a safehouse somewhere in the White Forest, with Leon, Noriko, Sandy, and Winston playing rummy to pass the time...

I don't think the couple you see in HL2 is the same one seen in ep1.

"Ya but it teh same models".

That's like saying Barney is the same one everywhere in HL1, either being teleported or resurrected.

Not quite, considering the Barneys had to have the same model because of memory limitations. :dozey:

Valve has gone to a lot of effort to make these citizen models the same, everywhere. Stubble, beard, clothing, everything.

Clearly, they are the same.

My response to their missing the Combine is always: "Why didn't you become a metrocop when you had the chance, if you like them so much?"

My response would be the following:

"You traitorous scum! Die Combine lovers!"

*kicks the two citizens out the window*
