i cant figure out why this prop and one other of the same kind keep having reflections like a cubemap would make them but there arnt any cubemaps near them, i want to get rid of this . any ideas?
For some reason you can't have reflective surfaces reflect nothing in Source. So by default it reflects skybox. Env_cubemaps tell the engine to make new images to reflect.
its an issue ive had often. especially when you have a lot of cubemaps. for some reason after you do buildcubemaps...about 15-20% of them will reflect the skybox (checked with impulse 81). i thought the problem was on my end but i eventually figured out that restarting the map after buildcubemaps was the fix....or maybe im the only one who experiences this problem...
