de_castle (water problem)

im having a water problem. ive done water before but now i cant figure it out why its not working right.

the white area that is around the castle is a moat that is water if you go in it. it even looks fine from under the water. but from above its as you see in the screen shots. Raeven0, since ur the fixer of these problems, i would be willing to send you the vmf to look at it if you want.
 
i had the same problem today, but the water was black. And i have done it 999999 times before and always worked, wonder if its an update bug.
 
i am also experiencing the same problem with my frigin sewer water.... if i find a solution to it ill post it
 
Is your water brush having nodraw on all sides and water texture only on the top side? And, is there any leaks? env_cubemap? water_lod_control?
 
nodraw on side and bottem- yes
leaks- dont think so
cubemap - yes
water cont- yes
it might be the vvis.exe
it freezes at what u see here.
before and after this spot it works fine.

By looking at this fullbright map, i conclude there is a leak or you didnt put any lights in it. Put a light_environment and if its still fullbright then you have a leak.

Edit: oh, I just noticed your last post, so if vvis do not complete you wont have any lights and probably no water. What do you mean by "it freezes"? How long have you let it compile?
 
ill try that with light env.
it gets to that point after about 5 mins. i let it sit for 2 hrs and it didnt move on.
 
from what i have gathered you have to take the brush you want to be water and "tie entitity" to "func_wateranalog"
 
yea it looks like its better but i got some of the pink stuff on it but i can usually get that to go away
 
the analog water is better than before but you cant see through from above in the water and from below out of the water
