deathmatch help

hi, i'm new to the site and have played HL2 3 times now and would to start on the deathmatch bit.
but each time i try to connect the error 'your version does not match the server, please restart'.
i'm using the vengeance version of HL2DM and had all the appropriate updates or so i thought.
what is the latest version and how can i go about getting it??
i also have the same issue with CSS.
also, do these come with bots, sometimes my net connection is pretty bad.

This is an illegal version of Half-Life 2. Buy the game. You won't be able to play online if you don't. Sorry
