This has been driving me nuts! but how do you rotate decals? because I tried ctrl-m and it didnt work then i tried clicking it two times and rotating it by hand and it still won't work. Can anyone help?

you can't rotate decals. if you want to rotate one of the /decal/ materials you need to use an overlay (it's the button just below the decal button on the LH side of hammer). you can also resize them too

NB. overlays create more tris than decals

Sorry for double post but, I can't figure it out.. anyway you can explain how to use the overlay tool?

select the decal you want to apply, then click on the overlay tool. apply it same as a decal. to resize it, click on the pointer button on the hammer toolbar. now you can drag the handles of the overlay to resize. it's tricky over uneven ground though. perhaps better to select the overlay and hit CTRL+T and change the UVW mapping coords manually
