I've been making some progress on my script for Decay 2 (a mod to hopefully get started soon). I'd like some opinions on what is currently done. If anyone wants to see the script, send me a pm or just reply to this thread. Oh, and I think I found a place for good ol' Adrian Shepherd. Please note its a very early version of the script, with some levels to be cut out/added in.

Can you post a chapter of it here please? Would love to see it.

Mission 1: Nova Prospekt
Opening:

HEV Suit: Obtrusive brain activity detected.

*flashback*

Gina: Dr. Keller, look out!.

Collete: Gina, no!.

*scene shows Dr. Keller tripping on a catwalk and falling down a Silo shaft*

Combine Medic: Alright, administering 3 ccs of diazemphen, attempting to stabilize patient.

Warden: Just get the damn girl awake, so I can talk to her.

Medic: Alright, fine. Giving her some amphetamines, that should wake her up. But if she goes into seizures and dies you can explain that to Dr. Breen.

*Gina awakes*

Warden: Ah, there she is. You’ve woken up, I’m sorry we had to be a little...forceful. You should feel lucky, your friend Collete wasn’t so fortunate.

*Glances at Collet’s fixed stare*.

Warden: We don’t know her status yet, or whether her condition is curable. Stasis is a relatively new enterprise. Now, you’re to report the old teleportation chamber. The Elites have orders for you. Guard, escort her to the messhall.

Guard: Let’s go.

Gina follows.

The Messhall:

Inmate #1: Look, its one of the twin angels of death.

Inmate #2: Stop being poetic

Inmate #1: *laughs* , Well, Gordon Freeman doesn’t stand a chance against them. I hear–

Inmate #2: Wait who?.

Inmate #1: You know, Freeman. The one Kernel Cubbage was telling us about. The “One Free Man”, they call him. He was supposed to come into the city today, I don’t know when though.

Inmate #2: Well, I heard what happened back in Black Mesa, I wouldn’t cross him.

Inmate #1: Supposedly, those two assassins were taking off of Earth for training, then they came back here and were put on ice until CP spots Freeman, then they’ll pop him off.

Inmate #2: Where’d you get that information?.

Inmate #1: I know things, heh, I know the guards around here want what we want, and you can get any information you want for the right price.

Goes through Messhall and enters another corridor, once Gina reaches the underground passageway, a guard greets here.

Underground Corridor

Guard: Enter, first door on your right is the teleportation room. Elites want a word with you, and that other girl too, where is she?.

Gina enters the teleportation chamber.

Teleportation Chamber.

Nova Prospekt Voice: Malcontent Observed, Initiating Suppressive maneuvers. All units report to Cell Block D, covert operations sanctioned.

(Viewscreen shows Combine officers being shot by Collete, after she steals a gun, various soldier chatter)

An Elite soldier turns to you

Elite: What!, what are you waiting for?. Get down to Cell Block D and try to disarm your partner before she gets herself killed. Those are your orders straight from the Warden’s mouth.

(As soon as you exit the room from the far side, a voice warns from the overhead speaker)

Nova Prospekt Voice:

Warning, Cell Block D Quarantine commencing in 3 minutes, detain political conscripts.

(As you move down the next corridor a squad of Elite soldiers runs past you and into the adjacent room)

*you approach a cell with a crazed Stalker on the other side*

Cell Scene:

CP #1: Damn, the Stalkers are going crazy.

CP #2: Just nerve gas ‘em.

CP #1: We can do that?

CP #2: Sure, there’s a switch panel in Block C, don’t tell the Warden I said that.

Nova Prospekt Voice:

Warning, Cell Block D Quarantine commencing in 1 minute and 50 seconds.

(Once you reach the cell just before CB D, Stalkers attack you, once you reach the next room NP Voice gives another warning).

NP Voice:
Warning Cell Block D Quarantine commencing in 50 seconds, prepare for hostile takeover.

Approaching the guard.

Guard: Its you!, get in there and take care of your partner, before the Warden gives the order to gas the place!.

Enter room, Collete is sitting on the floor in the dimly lit room.

Collete: Gina, its you!. I-I thought....well, it doesn’t matter. What are these masked soldiers, what do they want with us?. Freeman’s still alive?. I wonder what he’s been up to all this time. *sighs* We should get out of here, and find some answers.

*Combine enter the room*

CP: Detain Subject.

Warden (over loudspeaker): Wait!, the situation is under control in there. No use scaring an already frightened hare. Just bring them calmly into the teleport room. Dr. Breen wants to brief them both.

Collete *whispers*, I’ll follow them, just don’t let them come to close.

Teleport Room Briefing, Dr. Breen on viewscreen briefs you and Collete.

Dr. Breen: *clears throat*, Collete Green and Gina Cross. Welcome to Nova Prospekt. I trust the Warden has treated you well. Doubtless, you’re wondering what you’re doing here. Purpose is something rare and almost unattainable in this new world. And you both have been given such sustenance by Our Benefactors.

There is one, a renegade scientist known as Gordon Freeman. He lends himself not to the scientific process of research and enlightenment, but to the almost demonic rampage of death and destruction. The man has clearly gone insane. Your task....is to eliminate him, at all costs. There is no more worthy prize. I trust both of you realize the pertinence of your duty. Stay strong, and realize what you are doing is for the good of humanity, and the benevolence of Our Benefactors.

If you complete this mission successfully, you both will be free of your militaristic duties, and will have the freedom of living out the rest of your days in the finest of our urban centers. I know, its hard to take up the sword when the matter merely requires logic and understanding of the human condition. But imagine this sword of logic as something much more tangible, and forceful. At times, it must be applied with the greatest means necessary, so that the masses may benefit from its iron will.

Elite: Alright, you will both be teleported to a rebel stronghold known to them as “Black Mesa East”. They have their own teleporter set up, so we could send you directly there, but we’ll widen the coordinates so that you have the element of surprise.

You should end up somewhere to the north of the main hydro plant. Go in, eliminate Freeman, and get out. Simple as that.

NP Voice: Attention, Pulse Teleportation System Online, energy buffer has reached full capacity.

Elite: Okay, step in the teleporter, this won’t hurt a bit, trust me.

You step in the teleporter.

Collete: I don’t like this, not at all.

Screens fades

Uhm, inmates running lose? Aren't they all supposed to be encased into coffins/pods? Also, Combine Soldiers are to eliminate every unregistered citizen. Gina would be unregistered kind of, no?

Needs more work though. Well that's my opinion.

Pretty good but I agree with some of iMMuNiTy's ideas of the pods and the unregistered citizens.

Actually, Nova Prospekt was to be a facility where humans are transformed into Combine Soldiers (from what I understood), part of it was anyway. So, I don't think the Combine would treat their new combat buddies with unneeded hostility. I guess maybe the whole "inmate" thing was slightly inaccurate. And they weren't running loose, they were eating under supervision of the Combine, maybe I should have stated that somewhere. In theory, it does need a little work, although not by those specific critiques anyway. As for the unregistered citizen thing, the script implies Gina was in stasis BY the Combine, hence they were "registered". And, like I said, its an EARLY script.

Edit: Okay, if the inmate conversation still seems a bit off regardless of the above statement, I could always replace the Inmates with Combine Soldiers.

good ideas... some holes, as other's have said, but very good.

Coffin->Operating table->Combine soldier. It's either human in a coffin, or an emotionless combine soldier. I.e. combine soldiers do not share rumours or talk. They operate. Metrocops would suit the scene, but there are none of them in Nova Prospekt.

P.S. Sorry for the bump.

Hmm, that's actually a good point Immunity. I didn't (obviously) think of that. I could cut it out I suppose.

A decay 2 would in my opinion, be better off being in Black Mesa. Showing how Gina, Collette and Kellar escaped.

That was my alternative story actually. Who knows?. Maybe it will change.

Yeah! Surviving the nuke! And then escaping the nuked BM! Max35, your dream come true!

Yeah, and they become radioactive mutants with the sole purpose of rebuilding Black Mesa. Then Gordon returns after a thousand years of stasis (when radiation wears off) to become a freelance researcher. Now, if you'll excuse me I have a LOT of work to do.

mwahahahahhaha:smoking: (Yep, I'm smoking something that's for sure).

Well, Decay rounds off during Apprehension Hl time, so theres plenty of time for more Black Mesa treats.

Okay, I just made a poll, Decay 2 in City 17 or Black Mesa?.

I like t3h script.

Some continuality errors, but fix them and you'll go fine.

Alright, I'm going to post the second part of the script. Opinions, as always, are welcome.

Mission 2: Black Mesa East

Elite (HEV Suit Radio):

Alright, the main hydro plant should be just ahead. Look to the north a little. You shouldn’t have any opposition. Wait, I’m picking up electro-magnetic impulses. Oops, guess I was wrong *chuckles, then voice fades out*

Go foward.

Gina: There’s something up ahead *voice quivers*, I don’t know if I’m ready for this.

Vortigauts attack.

Go down the ramp and into the tunnels, more Vortigauts.

Once you reach a fork in the road you hear resistance chatter.

Resistance member: Shit!, we got hostiles!. Wait, you don’t look like a Combine Soldier, unless your some new Elite unit Civil Protection sent in to hunt us down. *voice trails off in suspicion*.

Female Resistance Member: Calm down, Harold. They look like scientists.

M RM: All these renegade scientists running around in HEV suits trying to save the world, whats next: acrobatic tigers in jumpsuits?.

F RM *nervous laughter*: You’ll have to forgive Harold, he’s been a bit odd since he’s been off his medication. Antlion Pherapods, great for treating Schizophrenia, something about narrowing his brain stem, according to Dr. Vance. With the recent activity on the coast, though, we haven’t been able to get access to any.

Collete: *impatiently* We’re looking for Freeman. Gordon Freeman.

F RM: Freeman?, I heard he just came into Eli’s lab about an hour ago, excellent timing. We’ll take you up to the main lab, where Dr. Vance and Gordon Freeman are waiting. Careful though, there’s headcrabs all over the place down here.

M RM: Keep those poison spiders away from me, their teeth make me tired.

F RM: I know Harold, why don’t you see if Greg has any spores for you. *turns to you*, spores grow quickly down in the mildew of the canals. They give him temporary relief.

Eli’s lab sequence.

*major crashing sound*.

F RM: Damn, they’re shelling the hell outta the place!. Alyx, do you read?. We got a few more bodies to lend a hand, we’re coming up to the main teleporter room now.

*Combine assassins enter main teleporter room*

F RM (Into Radio): We got perfects, get hoppers up here ASAP!.

*Once assassins are dead*

Eli: Alyx *coughs*

Alyx: Dad *runs over to Eli and crouches under a fallen beam he’s under*. Here, let me help you.

Eli: No, I’m fine, I can...*groans*. Thanks, baby. What in the name of....well, I’ll be. This looks to be a red letter day. I never thought I’d see you two again, and alive no less!. Collete, Gina, how did you two escape Black Mesa?.

Collete: A stroke of luck, I guess *glances at you*, but Dr. Keller didn’t make it, though.

Eli: That’s unfortunate, he was a brilliant colleague, not to mention one of the bravest men I’ve ever met. I’ll have to tell you the story of how he saved me from a pack of headcrabs....

Alyx: Enough small talk, Dad, we need to get out of here. I saw Dropships coming overhead before I headed into the airlock. I sent Dog to show Gordon the passage to Ravenholm, we had no choice, all we can do is hope he makes it out alive.

Alyx: What, you’ve been sent to kill Gordon?. By who?. *you tell her*. Oh, I see. Well, just so you know, there is another way. There is a resistance.

Eli: How about it, Gina?.

Collete: Well, I suppose we couldn’t be worse off. I didn’t want to kill Freeman, besides.

Alyx *roughly*, So, its settled.

Eli: Alyx, the teleporter is ruined. The router was completely destroyed.

Alyx: Dad, relax. Gary said he almost got the teleporter working last time. All we have to do is make our way up the coast. From there we can teleport to Dr. Kleiner’s and maybe we can put an end to this once and for all.

Eli: That crazy old man doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Alyx: No, we’re going to go Gary’s place, and we’ll see what we can do. That’s it, no more arguments. Gina, Collete, follow me, I’ll take you to the passage that leads to the coast.

*follow Alyx*

Once you reach the Coast entrance:

Alyx: Alright, here it is. We should end up in an old parking garage if I remember–

F RM: Alyx, do you copy?.

Alyx: Yeah, what’s gone wrong now?

F RM: Its Dog, we tried to detain him, but he went off in the direction of the City.

Alyx: What, Dog went to the City alone?. My god, he’s going to get blown to pieces if someone doesn’t go after him, and maybe half the City *smirks*. Well, it looks like I’m going to have to chase down Dog. You two head up the Coast and meet with Gary. I’ll take the airboat Gordon left and see if I can track down Dog. I’ll keep in touch.

If im right decay was origanilly a coop/singleplayer. Meaning colette and gina are both playable characters, its a unwritten law in hl games and mods cant have playable character dialogue! The way to solve this is to make it pure single player and removing gina's/colette's dialogue. But the coop element was what i loved so much about the original so for me the only way to make this mod really good is to remove both of gina's and collete's dialogue. Keeping it 2 player coop.
Sorry if this is insulting but its my opinion.
