Ok, i'm don't know if this has been mentioned because (as you can tell from my post count) i don't visit these boards often (for fear of ruining HL2 for myself, if you can remember my last post). So if this has been done before i am truly sorry. And before you start flaming me this is only a THOUGHT that i found interesting, which i am not claiming to be true.

ANYWAYS, I was on a pc board and someone mentioned of a rumor of ATi's new Radeon 9900 Pro being released mid or late September. The ETA of the new card is very skeptical and this is ONLY a rumor. Many have said that half life 2 has been built with ATi's cards in mind (another rumor). So if these rumors are true then maybe the delay of the game is to allow ATi with Valve's to help push the new 9900. Then users will upgrade to the 9900. After all, when reading posts and websites that mention the delay, many users aren't too dissappointed because it gives them a longer amount of time to upgrade there comp. It's all A CONSPIRACY!!..haha...just something that popped into my head and share with everybody

Ok...now you can begin flaming...

uh...huh...

Well, I'm glad you were able to bring your delightful ideas to the conversation...I look foward to reading you future posts

well i appreciate it, i respect your honest and your user name, also houston sucks man, the place is polluted and its over populated! :0

There there now, he makes a valid point with the thread.

indeed.. tokion needs to be a bit less agressive against new posters.

All I know is that there's a very small rumour going around and spreading like wildfire regarding the 9990 being shipped with HL2 along side the software CD.

This rumour started at one site, no one heard anything about it for a while, and I assume the rest of the sites copied the original site because all the others are holding pretty much the same story.

In this story it announced that HL2 would be going gold on September 13th.

One gaming website, quite reliable have announced a HL2 delay until Christmas 2003. Fragmaster from PHL checked and double checked with Vivendi and said that "his contacts" there confirmed the delay - The way he covered the story made it look very unreliable.

The following day Amy Farris the only official person that has announced anything announced that Valve is still going to ship HL2 on 30th September and the previous announcements were a "miscommunication". Valve still remain silent on the subject.

Basically we don't know **** all. Valve have been so quiet and they're not keeping us informed anymore. But we've had delay scares in the past and as always Valve have reassured us many times: 30th September is the date. I for one, believe them.

I don't get it. The 9900 and HL2 are being released in september. They always were and they still are. There is no delay.

If it does come in a bundle it will be the most expensive game to date. The 9800 cost 350 i believe, and it's been out.

Like I said, some websites have reported that Vivendi have told them that the game is released. Planet Half-Life are still convinced that there will be a delay - Valve have said nothing on the subject and now some people from Vivendi have said that there is no delay.

While true, Houston has great wages (for my line of work anyway) and the housing market is fantastic.

Case in point - I've just gotten my Masters in Accounting and I'll be making $7,500 MORE my first year than a buddy of mine in my exact position who is starting in another city in Utah (Both Big 4 CPA firms) Plus he's having to pay about 160K for a house that would be less than 120K in Houston.

So the salaries are keeping high in Houston comparatively and housing costs are very advantageous.
