Diablo II

LOL. I thought that Hellgate: London was supposed to be like a D3 type project. D3 has about as much hope right now as Starcraft 2.
Nope Sc2 has a much higher chance.
The team that makes the RPG's has been busy with WoW & Expansion. The team that makes the RTS's havn't had a project since Wc3:TFT. So.....you ownder..what could they be doing? I've got a damn good guess!

Also the RPG teams big people have left.....ever take the time to wonder why?
Blizzard North(RPG team) has lost quite a few people. A major one like Bill Roper. Bill Roper was a major player since Blizzard bought Condor, they were creating Diablo at the time. Bill Roper probably quit because....lets see...maybe there next plans were WoW and not D3? Thats probably why he's making a diablo style game.

Of course they probably will make a Diablo 3 and because Blizzard North has been hiring for a very long time who knows? I don't know how big they are but they could probably manage multiple games at the same time. An expansion and a full game would be easier to manage aswell. Especially when you throw in all the funds they have know becuase of WoW. They can expand much easier.

Then others like Mike O'Brian and Patrick Swaney also left. Mike developed the archive format MoPaQ for Blizzard. Patrick developed the netcode for the Diablo's, Starcraft's, and worked on WoW's a little. They both left and formed ArenaNet. Having Patrick there is probably wow Guild War's server system and netcode is so damn good.

Jerking off to porn?

I don't turn things into inflammatory BS. But as you said, the second I state my opinion, the entire world instantly turns against me, and I have to argue against everyone else. Most of the time, I'm sure these clowns don't even believe what they're saying, they just do it to try and piss me off, because everyone loves a good flame argument. Notice I was the second one to say it's too late to get into D2, however everyone completely snapped and lost it on me, instead of the other member.

I could probably have the entire site saying Hitler was an excellent man if I simply said I hated him.

You just have a very argumentative way of expressing your opinion sometimes, I'm not sure if it's intentional or not. In any case, I know that if Dreadlord posts his opinion, hilarity will ensue. So keep it up!

And the inflammatory BS part was just a joke between me and myself. Accusing you of inflammatory BS was in fact inflammatory BS on my part - irony ftw!

Oh Narco, such a clever one you are... :dozey:

Thats on there free time during lunch breaks! Take another one! Wow out of all the actual games being played on b.net D2 has 25k\35k right now. That suprises even me.

The other guy just said that basicly it is a factor. You said that its been far too many years to even play.

Which are completely equivalent. I appreciate you proving my point.

There is a difference between just saying that it is a factor and saying that you shouldnt even play it.

Well he's just blatantly wrong. There's not much else to say. It's like someone saying 2+2=3.. What else can you say but "You're wrong.."?

I have yet to understand your logic...

Your saying that there is NO difference between it just being a factor and it being SO MUCH of a factor that you shouldn't even play.

There is a difference.
It being a factor may throw the game out for people that are bored with it. But it also may keep it in for newcomers.

And I have no clue if you'll understand this but ill go ahead with it.
Theres a difference. What your saying is this:
X * Old Game = Don't Play It.
What hes saying is this.
X * Old Game = Y

You already know the outcome of your equation. It's basically the games old don't play it. No matter what the other factors are it's to old to play. It's like throwing in 0 as a factor in a equation with only multiplication.

What the other guy was saying is: It's a factor and depending on the other factors the game may still be playable.

Theres a fine line between what he said and what you said. If you fail to understand then im done with you. You simply are to ignorant.

Hahahaha, I love long drawn out posts like this, like I actually give a shit.

Yeah, same thing, k thnx.

What irony? Im being ignorant? How so?

I think you just want to start a fight with that post. You are sad. You know im gonna be the more mature one here and not start a fight or flame war.

Hahahaha, I love long drawn out posts like this, like I actually give a shit.
Which is why you are ignorant.

You insist on arguing your "point" further, and you really don't even give a shit.... Hmm... :|

I think that this

Lol, no sorry. I stopped arguing a while ago, I just find the entire situation rather comical. Shouldn't you be playing Diablo II right now? I'm sure there's 600,000,000 Koreans owning it up.

TCfromBN said:
Woah, your insults are pretty origional. :| Lame.

I know! "Shouldn't you be playing Diablo II" is such a slam! How can you handle it?

I'm with ya. Lets go have some fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do people like Diablo 2? Serious question, I demand an essay.

It just appeals so little to me, yet it so popular that even the Runescape geeks in Math make fun of me when I say I dislike it.

Whenever Dreadlord enters a thread, a gigantic *woosh* sound can be heard from across the land.

He's right, it's a bad, bad time to get into D2 multiplayer. Even the lingo of the game is prohibitively weird for a beginner. The game is no longer played as it was intended to be played - now it's just lots of running, being run (*yawn*), and engaging in incredibly repetitive tasks to farm 1337 loot.

Now, if you manage to find a channel of likeminded people, or a group of friends, of course it can still be a lot of fun.

No.... no. The ENTIRE POINT of multiplayer is human interaction. If the people you're playing with are on a completely different plane of 1337itude, it's just not going to be fun.

Now that's just missing the entire point.

See, now, I can respect you far, far, far more than Dreadlord because you are proposing your argument in a very calm, civil, and respectful manner. It does not change the fact that I strongly disagree, but at least you are being nice about it. :P

It does not matter what kind of game ever comes out. Some people, within a few months, weeks, or even days will be far superior to the average player.

But how does this effect the playability of the multiplayer game?

It doesn't. Its simply a part of gaming that no matter what you play, someone else will be better. The game's age has very little to do with this. Someone can get it on release day and play it for 12 hours a day for a month, and someone can just buy the game a month after release date, yet be ridiculously inferior to the pro even though the game only came out a month ago. Why are years more important than months? There will always be new players to games, and there will always be experts. Perhaps its true that if a game is a couple years old, there will be more experts than there were a couple of weeks after release. How does this effect new players, though? A new player will not be searching for experts to play with, they will be searching for people of the same stage in the game and the same level.

First person shooters are a terrible example, too. No matter what the FPS is, some people have played so many FPS's that it may only take them a matter of hours to become pro at them. So why does it matter when the FPS was released? Most people who buy them don't get them on release day and start playing. Most people buy them within a few months of release day. Which basically gives a lot of people a few months to become pro. Sure, the amount of experts will increase with time, but its not like they will continue to increase until there are no new players. :upstare:

You just cannot say that a game sucks after a few years because other players became better at it then you. Superior players always exist in games, and while they probably do increase in numbers somewhat as a game is released, there will also always be new people, terrible players, and average players.

Besides, who wants to play a game that, as a newb, everyone is at your same skill level? You're going to improve as you play, its not exactly like you will give up playing a game because you lose at it when you're brand new. Unless you have the attention span of a 6-month old kid.

I can definately see a game being "too old to play" for another reason: it has a suffering player base. Alien Vs. Predator 2 became boring to play after I got it because not many people played it any more, and no rooms would fill up with players. But the problem is a lack of active players, not an abundance of expert players.

And Dreadlord, maybe the reason that everyone hates you is because you act like an asshole. You come into this thread, saying that Diablo II sucks because it is old, and only because it is old. And then people are like "What the f*ck?" and so you insult them like a 12-year old. You may as well just say that we are all "buttheads," and that we can all just go off and play Diablo II because we are such big losers (don't forget to make an L shape on your forehead when you do this, that really gets my goat!)

Actually it's a massive factor. Massive enough that it's far too many years late to play it.

Yes, I see where I said the game sucks, and acted like an asshole and presented my opinion in a completely hostile manner.

About the "insults".. I actually didn't insult ANYONE in my posts AT ALL. You people insulted the hell out of me, but I gues that's allowed right? Let's see how many insults came out of all my posts:

DreadLord1337 said:
Are you kidding me? You don't think it's a bit late to dive into the multiplayer Diablo II scene? Come on now.. That's like going to play the original Unreal Tournament online, it's all people who have been playing forever.

Yeah I'd love to go pay $3 for Diablo II and hop online today. Great idea.

DreadLord1337 said:
ZOMG. LET ME JOIN UP.

Oh, and it's WC3 by a long shot.

DreadLord1337 said:
Absolutely. Single player? No.. Because that you can do on your own, and it's not with people who have been playing FOREVER.

We didn't even know if we'd be able to play Diablo II when it was in development because OF Y2K!!

DreadLord1337 said:
Probably none, I don't think anyone in the entire world plays xfire.

So you're going to go play.. soccer?

Really, starcraft beats both Warcraft 3, and WoW? You're full of crap.

Warcraft 3 has far more than that, as I showed you. Starcraft maybe.

DreadLord1337 said:
Thanks, champ!

Go join a nice UT server. See how long you last. See how much fun it is to join a game 6+ years late.

Wow, would you look at that? NOT A SINGLE INSULT in any of the posts. Amazing how I'm accused of flaming and insulting right along, when Erestheux is the ONLY one insulting anyone in the entire thread. But yeah, keep teaming up against me becase it's fun, because it's great to get an argument out of me. You'll notice I don't actually flame until I get flamed, which is absolutely hilarious seeing you all accuse me of it from the start.

I'm done with this thread, here's my insult: you people are complete, and utter assholes.

Wow, you just quoted yourself being a confrontational, condescending little jerkoff in like four posts. Thanks for proving my point.

If you think we are such assholes, go away, and stay being away. As in, don't ever come back. It saves all kinds of people a lot of grief.

"I know you are but what am I?!"

Way to keep the 12-year-old kid theme going!

Would you quit saying that you're done with this thread if you're just going to return to say stupid things?

By the way, sorry for making fun of you for giving out such ridiculous advice. I don't know what I was thinking! :O

Err, this thread's going to get locked if you two don't cut the shit. x.x

Couldn't you guys keep the fighting in PMs?

I just borrowed this game off a friend and must admit I have no idea what to do as I have never played a game like this in the past.

So, before I get lost and immediately dismiss the game can anyone give me a rough idea of what to do and how to play? I don't just want to dive in, head-first.

He also lent me the expansion if that helps.

To avoid it being a pointless thread, also discuss things here. Yes. /me nods

I don't see anywhere where it talks about debating the game's popularity/whatever the hell you guys are arguing about.

I just want you notice that you're the steaming pile of shit that insulted me over and over again before I said a single insult towards you. And no, I won't, because just like every other thread where a bunch of ignorant twats argue with me, little jabs at me keep being posted for a few days.

And your apology is accepted, ass.
