I think Dr. Breen lived, why?. Two reasons.

1: He was too much of an important character to kill off in HL2 ( I believe they might kill him off in Aftermath).

2: We have no evidence he's dead.

So, I think we will see him again in AM, if only to see his demise.

Dr. Breen can't die, he's IMMORTAL!

No, but seriously, I hope to god he's alive. Like you said, he is a too much of an important character to kill.

When Breen says "...you neeeed me..", the way it dragged on, sounded more like he was being teleported somewhere else somehow. either that or it was a painless death.

He did live.

He just got sent to another dimension, or teleported to the wrong place.

He certainly did not die. You can quite clearly see him within his bubble atop the platform.

It would be a bold move by VALVe if Breen did return horribly deformed on the few functioning monitors left in City 17, chasing you from screen to screen similar like in the citadel.

That'd be interesting, if perhaps a tad cliche.

Clichés are there for a reason. At least when it comes to bad guys leaders.
But yeah, a host body would be a bit cooler. Although I would miss his face. What would a host body look like anyway?

lord knows! but hopefully a body that would be more suitable for ruling an entire planet. I mean, what were the combine thinking putting an old man in charge of a planet!?

Wobbling jelly-like body in a sack, of course.

He's just a pawn, the combine rule behind the scenes, he's just there to smile and calm the masses. He's a front. You know like Bush!

I think I'd prefer him to remain within a human body, he'd loose his character otherwise.

Hardly. I certainly prefer Breen the way he is. If he was to under go some facial sugery, he might just come off as your usual cardboard cut out villain.

No, not really. Its just not plausible given the storyline. He would only get the "host body" if he teleported to another world. Maybe he finds someway to teleport to the Combine homeworld later on in AM, and then get the host body, but during the expansion's initial levels, we'll probably see him in human form (although deformed would be cool, forcing Breen to give up his self-righteous demeanor and adopt a more dark philosophy).

Dr. Breen is a fascinating character. Keeping him the way he is wouldn't be cliche, but changing him would be blatant stupidity.

I, for one, hope he returns in the form of a more tooled-up version of the marshmallow chap from the Ghostbusters movie.

I honestly doubt that. I mean, the Citadel was the only means of passage between universe to universe, and really, it'd be pretty crap given the fact that the entire ending sequence was stopping Breen escape with Eli's technology.

Plus, I don't think it was the Combine homeworld - most likely another transformed planet.

I think you guys are discussing the obvious... In my opinion, Breen is alive but we won't see much of or interact with him in Aftermath.

Even a bigger pointless post.

Well apart from the fact you pointed out the most obvious, and blatant thing in a rather stupid manner, I'd agree with you. But for the sake of what is an interesting thread, this conversation ends here.

Right... What big role would Breen take in Aftermath, when your main objective, if I may call it so, escape City 17? During Aftermath, he may appear time to time on the screen, or not. What I am certain of, is that Breen is going to participate in the end of Aftermath. But during the game... I don't know. Not much for him to do in it. Unless chasing you screen to screen, as it has been mentioned before.

I guess we'll find out who's right and wrong when Aftermath is out.

There isn't really a right and wrong, if your merely assuming. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to conjure up a role for him, but personally, I do like the screen idea. Gordons actions have cast the entire of the City 17 populace into immediate danger...thanks to Gordon, thousands could die in one fell swoop.

It'd be very Breen like, if Breen decided to attempt to turn the citizens against you using your own actions as fuel for his rants.

1. Breen is dead
2. Breen is normal human
3. Breen is *ucked up - he's head is in hes stomach
4. Breen has host body
5. Breen's host body is *ucked up ...
6. Breen posesses over one of Gordons friend to take revenge - Alyx

LMFAO. :D

I just couldn't agree more.

Here's what I think...

General Samon speaks the truth. The unquestionable type. The type in which you disagree you go straight to the forced labor camps.

That's a typo, they're Factory worker education camps.

Samon is correct. Breen is alive

:p

Cliche or not, after that explosion, I'd say the next time we see Dr. Breen is whatevers left of him in a jar... or in some huge robot body with his brain floating in the chest and a hologram of his head on top :borg: . Now THAT'S cliche, right there! 1 on 1, Breen 2.0 vs Dog. place your bets.

What are the odds for Breen and whats the inflation for betting for him?:stare:

Huge on Breen, just because you would be stuck watching it in some lame spot like behind a bus that was knocked by the two and it would be an epic fight, but Dog would loose and it would be all sad and make Alyx go bloodlust for Breen... Thats just the way these things work out.

BTW, Docweetodd, House is great. Nice pic.
