Directx 10

For some reason, it will not allow me select directx 10. I have a EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB SUPERCLOCKED. I am using Vista Ultimate. All drivers are up to date, but it will not use Directx 10.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

That's because HL2 doesn't support DX10.

Sorry, its Episode 2. In the advanced video section, there is a drop down error to select another version of directx 10, but its greyed out.

The source engine does not currently support DirectX 10, and I do not know if VALVe has any plans for it to in the future. Currently it supports DirectX 7, 8 and 9, which is why you are given the option to change to a different version.
