dm_facility_01 Map Update

A few weeks ago I made a thread on the begginings of my map.(didn't want to go to the old thread) So Im making a new one, and I have some pics of what Ive acomplished. www.natesmetal.150m.com/HALF-LIFE-MAP.html
btw, those of you who didnt read the other thread, i know someone already made a facilty map. Ive seen it, im just tryin to make a different/better version. This is "THE" last update before its done, so any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
well i cant see much from the tiny screens, but even at this tiny size they look infinitely better than this piece of crap so i wouldnt be talking if i were you dead-inside

edit: ah wait, by right clicking on the image in mozilla i can see fullsize. From what i can see it looks ok, but you need to work on the geometry (its a bit too blocky) and the lighting. Otherwise reasonable.
 
ouch that level is horrible, yeah i know most of the level is blocky, ill work on that after i get done the whole level.
 
Doesn't compare to Johnny's, sorry :(

It has potential. I would definitly fix the lighting and then go from there. I think you made it to narrow, you need to widen it up.
 
Definately looks nice. I loved Golden Eye, and I also played "Falictiy" (Facility) on Perfect Dark. I do think some of it is too narrow. If I remember right- it was about two people wide in GE/PD. However I have not played either recently, so don't quote me on that.

Personal note: The map looks dark and gritty, almost sinister. (Because of your lighting.) Is this your intention? Or is that just how it ended up? I remember the Facility having a much lighter feeling to it. (Though this was back in N64 days, so lighting wasn't anything to stare at.) This is just a personal obvservation. If you were going for a darker/more sinister feel- then I think you did an awesome job. If you're trying to make this identical to the game version, then I think it needs to be brighter, and have some lighter colors. (Puke-pastel-green seems to be the color I recall the most, and off-white cement walls.)

These are just my observations. As Lazy_Moron said: It has potential. Just ignore the nay-sayers. It's obvious you know what you're doing.

Actually yes, that was my intention. I saw the dm_facility map (after i started mine) and saw that he did a nice job, but too...non-exciting for my taste. I actually was inspired to do the "dark, sinister" look after playing doom III. I think that it could make a nice deathmatch environment.
 
Blinking Halo, stop making such retarded posts. Glasshouse was what you call one of those "fun maps" where the point isn't to blow a player away with outstanding geometically assymetrical composition and fluid color lighting, but to give the player something to do on his free time.

Btw, the map does look a little dark. I dunno what you were thinking when you came up with the idea that Doom III maps would be a good DM atmosphere, but I would advise to re-think things.
 
wow! serioualy nice work for a first map! youve definatly improved from what I last saw.

btw, anyone using mozilla :D can see the images at full by right clicking them and selecting 'veiw image'

if your using internet explorer then ur in league with satan. have fun with that.

I havn't seen any other posts by blinking halo but that one was spot on.

What are you talking about? Having a somewhat dark environment would be awesome. Yes Doom III style darkness is a little much but...honestly I get tired of all these "nice" looking maps. Almost every server i go on with custom maps they are very bright and not very evil looking. So i decided to change the feel of things and go for a dark evil look. (and besides, using the darkness to your advantage adds a little strategy to gameplay....but thats just me, think what you want)
