Do Metro Cops = Combine Soldiers?

People speak about the Combine and the Metro Cops, but they both look very similar. Are they the same, are they completely different or is the distinction made by the Combine?

It most likely is the same thing as military and police IRL. To add, the Combine seem to have heavier equipment.

The metrocops are part of the combine, they are combine soldiers but they're more of a cop nature with pistols and stun batons instead of the usual rifle-equipped soldier. They do the pushing around of people in the videos.

To me, all the "Combine" seen in the Binks look like cops, not soldiers.

I've always interpreted it (with pointers fro magazine screenshot captions) as:

Metrocop: The guys with white masks and black suits, the ones seen rounding up citizens and using stun batons. The most frequently seen sort, in fact.

Soldier: The guys with bluish-grey suits and masks, as seen in Traptown and Bugbait. They appear to wear heavy ballistic armour.

The soldiers and metrocops have two different roles within the Combine. The soldiers are the grunt forces used as a military faction. The metrocops are there to keep the human civilians under control and in order.

I would say that the metrocops are the ones who boss around the civillians. The soldiers are probably the ones you will most likely fight after getting your HEV suit...

ARGH! Why did half a dozen of others have to repeat what I said? People on these forums need to learn to be more responsive and actually read what has been said(maybe it should be mentioned in the forum rules?). Well, you didn't make it very clear. You called the Soldiers "The Combine", when both Soldiers and Cops are ostensibly employed by them, and simply said that the Cops and Soldiers were different. You didn't point out which was which.

I just said Combine since I was replying to his question which made Combine out to be what only the soldiers would be called. And I thought everybody would see that I naturally meant that the game's police would be the same as reality's police and same thing with the soldiers in-game and the reality's soldiers(alright, I called them military. but who would call policemen 'soldiers'?)

Oh I see who's who now. So in other words, the Metro Cops aren't the combine soldiers? But if this is true, how come on phl show they are the same...http://www.planethalflife.com/half-life2/enemies/, and on the same page, scroll down to the hydra, it's stabbing a soldier?
