Dogs and their own crap/poo.

We've had many dogs in my family and still i cant understand why they eat their own crap. It must be like food for them, else why would they want to eat it

I've owned a dog and known many people with dogs, i have never once seen a dog eating its or another dog poo.

dogs who eat their own crap is usually a sign they've been abused as puppies ...many dogs (even expensive pure bred ones) come from puppy mills (google it) ..where they're in small cages all day. Dogs, being clean animals, dont like to have feces all over themselves so they'll often eat it. I know from experience


btw dogs will rarely eat another dogs poo ..only their own ...although my dog has come out of the woods after rolling in another animal's poo (as predators they try to mask their smell ...usually by rolling in the poo of their intended victem)
