But I have never played EP1 before, but I was analyzing a hunter screen shot, and realized that

1) Hunters (As I already knew) were NOT houndeye synths

2) Their Knees are not bent the right way to be baby striders, even though I proposed before that they may go through a metamorphisis or pupa state. but it seems I might have been wrong...
Enlighten me, I do not wish to bring up the Houndeye synth debate, but I want to hear some NEW theories, because (even though the coding says 'mini_strider') I'm losing doubt in my theory...

strider puberty. listen, the grown striders even have deeper voices and their guns hang lower.

Those blue dots all over their faces...Not eyes I tells thee, that be strider puberty acne.

I really really really doubt they are baby striders. Perhaps they are made from the same original species as strider but they aren't strider babies.

Well they're not likely to grow into striders, if that's what you mean. Actually, stealth edit, not only "not likely" but probably "ridiculous and impossible." But they're probably close to being what strider (the unmodified base creature) offspring would look like.

my thought is it's a different creature with a similar place of origin.

remember how in hl1 the primary aliens had body geometry based 5 limbs, but yet were different species. The common number of limbs sort of leant credance to the fact that they were from a similar source.

Well, ditto for the striders and the hunters. They are different species, but they were cultivated from the same place. Both species being based on a body geometry based on 3.

hmmm, well, what if Houndeyes were being synthesized... just kidding... But what if both Strider base creatures (the un-synths) and Original Hunters (un-synthed) all came from the same planet? Is it possible that, houndeyes were drawn to Nihinlanth and striders and hunters remained on 'Planet X' (X because we don't know the name)? Maybe vortigants and those armored guys from HL1 are from the same planet too.

I always thought Striders were some kind of sinthetic (synt) mech produced by the combine, and not a previously existing creature (like the overwatch soldiers).

You guys just can't except the truth. Hunter = Houndeye. PC Gamer said so. :p

No; synths were originally all pre-existing conquered species modified over long periods of time, and the Overwatch are slowly being synth'd also IIRC.

alright, I suppose it's all just theory then, even if the coding was "mini_strider"

Oh well, maybe one day, a valve staff member will pick up on this and eventually explain to us.

Nice joke with the PC game hound eye,
