Dune MMO?

Anyone think a Dune MMO could have some real potential? Vast intergalactic feudal system built on trade to acquire a single supremely addictive and powerful resource? Some people here have to be familiar with the Dune universe. It is really quite impressive and stands up there with any other mainstream or prestigious sci-fi/fantasy universes.

you could join with one of the houses (i think this would be one of the 'major' things, i guess kind of similar to the new factions in gw), and have a universe where different houses control planets, and you can 'invade' planets and have wars waging on planets which last for weeks, or months !

i can think of so much, it would be awesome.

- library called me yesterday, they finally got the dune book in so i'm going to read that this week.

Dune rocks, a well-done MMO would be goddamn sweet. A badly-done MMO would be sacrilege.

Since no one's really making it there's no answer to this. I'm just saying someone should make it. I think Westwood has the rights to the RTS universe I dunno if that encompasses all game forms. That would mean EA has it. What would be cool is to get a LoTR like movie trilogy doubled with a Blizzard-made Dune MM. That would be like any Dune nerd's wet dream.

But a Dune MMO would be cool, despite the fact I've only ever played Emperor: Battle for Dune. And that rocked.

True (Stealth, stupidly long range and a high powered rifle > HMG/Laser & groovy knife thing) But who cares? I get stroll around in heavy armour, toting an insanley large gun, but if its a laser dont ask me to take down sheilds. That simply isnt funny.

If such an MMO were ever in development, it would be a very hard thing to pull off. It would have to be done to perfection... any small glitch could destroy the experience. I've been playing on a Dune-RP type place in a small game... and the slightest error really made a big difference.

It would be awesome to see one, but it would have to be very well-done or else it wouldn't get very far. House Atreides for the win!

Leto II actually dies before the mutation is done, so we never get to know for sure exactly how long it takes. But it takes long, thats for sure.

And somebody else starts the mutation process further into the series if I remember correctly...

Hell yes, I'd love a Dune MMO. I've read every book in the series, including the ones written by Kevin Anderson and Brian Herbert. I'm a total Dune nerd.

FYI, there's two more Dune books coming out to finish off the series, so we'll find out what happens after Chapterhouse. D:
