OK so earlier this month when I built my computer I bought this NEC OEM DVDRW 16X ND-3520A Drive from newegg. Now I want to burn dvds. But since its oem I really dont have a clue for which software will allow me to do that easily andquickly. I torrented some goodies and I wantt o put them on DVDR disc but I want this process to go kind of fast.

Im thinking of buying som Philips DVDR 8X from circuit city 25pk for 6.98 today or tommorow. But ive read horror stories about people buying dvd r discs and they dont work as planned, ie only a small percentage works. Or the discs arent compatible is there a list of compatible disc that work with the necs. Mine nec is oem as mentioned above thus it came with no manual or anything.

My next question leads me to my hard drive. im thinking about buying another hard drive right now I have a 120gig thats being filled up pretty fast bcause my 4 gig downloads and what not ;/, but how will I set it up? Like how would I be able to store files on it, would I just add it as another partition or will I have to install windows xp on it or something? thanks

i cant answer your first question, but concerning the hard-drive:

its almost like plug and play, wack it in power up your pc and you motherboard should recognise it immediatly at post, make sure your hdd with xp on it is still the one it boots from first(this shouldnt change, but if u have a problem check)

and go into windows, log in and go to computer management( Right click my computer, Manage.........)

find the hard drive section and format your new drive with the NTFS file system, faster and more secure....

reboot if it asks you too and hey presto new drive :)

thats all i had to do when i got a new drive
