Does anyone know how to edit the skin that is placed on a wall, or other object, when it is hit by a bullet? I can't seem to find the TGA file that has the skin in it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Adam

Look it hl2\materials\decals

But of course you will have to open the source materials.gcf with GcfScape. Stop Steam before trying to open it

Okay, I've found them, but how might I use this information to make a paintball effect or the like?

Thanks!

remake the decal into a paintball splatter in photoshop or something, save it, and then put it in the decals folder under the exact same name

You'll need to convert the .vtf files to .tga first.. search the forums or google it for a tutorial on how..

Then open the .tga files in Photoshop, and edit them into paintball splatters or whatever you're looking for..

Save the .tga files and convert them back to .vtf and place them in the same file path that gcfscape used.

You'll need to download vtex btw..

Edit: PM me if you need help with the converting process..

okay, got it, thanks dread lord and linknight

I'll work with it and post results when i'm done
