Alright,
I was playing HL² Deathmatch, and I got this idea.
Wouldn't it be awesome playing some of the single player HL² maps in HL² Deathmatch ?
I for one think it would be sweet playing in one of those village levels, or in City 17, etc :)
Just one thing, there are no files I can open in Hammer to edit those levels to add pickups and spawns, etc.
Any idea how I could edit those (or if anyone has done anything similar, where I could download them ?)

The best you can do is decompile the BSPs with a program called VMEX, allowing you to open the decompiled map in Hammer. This is generally frowned upon.

There is also a reason Valve made new HL2DM levels rather than just copying them over.

HL2's single-player levels are far to linear to work as deathmatch levels.

So basically, what Ennui said.

I think there are plenty of locations in HL2 that could easily become good DM maps, after simply adding and/or connecting a few rooms or outdoor areas, just as with Lockdown. It's also really easy to take several sections of a linear map and lay them side-by-side, to create a more circular play area.

Cuber, I think it's a good idea, and would work well in certain areas... but be careful with the Coast areas (which might be too large and simple), and keep in mind also that getting City 17 plaza areas to run smoothly on mid-range computers can be difficult, especially when you add 12 guys running around and blowing things up. I used to run on a GF FX 5500, and any of those C17 outdoor areas would slow to a CRAWL, whereas everything else ran pretty smoothly.
