Estimated Release Date for HL2

As everyone has been hearing false release dates, rumours, and guessed dates by Half-Life programmers no one really knows the release date. So I'm asking everyone's opinion and guess on what date Half-Life 2 will be released on.

Alright before this goes any further don't give the guy too much trouble and before you all go yelling "Closed!" "Ban abn ban ban!" "In before close" settle down, I've taken action.

The estimated release for HL2 is Summer 2004. That'll be any time from now until October. Bare in mind though if the game isn't ready, we may not see it before 2005.

Retailers don't mean much, but it's worth it to note that most game stores now have Doom3 boxes with an estimate arrival date of 7/27. No sign of the HL2 boxes, even promotional ones, that were in stores last year.

I'll make a hopeful guess for Friday the 11th of June04. Cos that's when i finish my exams. That'd be great.

Honestly, if it takes Valve 8 months to playtest the thing, they are the laziest bastards ever. Only a stupidly late overhaul would delay it and Valve wouln't be so stupid as to do that now, no matter how much the perfectionists they are.

The 18th of June it will be release on Steam. The 25th you can unlock and play. It's my birthday, and eventhough I don't know Gabe, I think he will do this one for me.

When it's done they'll have the 100 million copies of the game to manufacture, plus manual and art work etc. Then there's the marketing. I'm guessing all that will take another month.

Some Vivendi rep said something like that. But Vivendi have been shown to know feck all in regards to HL2 and valve. So you can pretty much ignor everything they say.


Note: Vivendi is valves publisher for HL2.

You have to admit it's starting to itch like a bad rash. I want to play it so much, and I even don't know why. All I've seen were some video's, a few screenshots, and a huge amount of speculation around the web.
