Extracting Models With UVMap Intact

Ok, so I can extract a model from HL2, I can extract the relevant texture.

How do I go about doing this and keeping the UV mapping in place?

Do I have to manually texture the model again, or is there some easy way to already have the texture applied correctly?
 
The model already retains its UV co-ordinates when you decompile it and import the .smd reference file into your 3D program, infact some importers give you the option to choose weither to import all of the information or not, all you need to do is apply the correct texture (edited or not) to the object again in the 3D program your using.
