Fable..(crosses fingers)

If it does live up to the hype, I'll be very surprised...

I don't mean to be a pessimist, but Peter Molyneux (sp ?) is the over-hyper-master..
All of it sounds cool really, but I'm not convinced they can pull it off.
If fable was coming to the pc I might have been more hopeful (and excited :) ), but now... I dunno...

I hope you don't get disappointed! :)

I have high hopes for this game. I havent touched my xbox in over a year cuz there hasnt been any games that I've been all that excited about. I find console games to be a bit shallow but I'm hoping that Fable and Halo 2 will respark my interest.

I think lionhead needs to stop working on fable and release black and white 2! although fable tooks freakin' awesome

Shame they had that huge graphical downgrade at one occasion...

Another preview. 12 pages long. They're playing the near final build...and so far...it sounds like it's living up to their expectations. I couldn't be more excited.

I personally like the graphical style. The big hands, big weapons, etc. I like how the game looks. Fairytale-ish if you ask me...which is what I think they were going for.

This quote came from an interview with Molyneaux not too long ago:
About one month ago a boy came and said: "If there's an economy system in Fable - I can kill all
the people in the village. The prices would fall and I could buy all the houses and lease them to wanderers, right?"
And he did it. Surprises like these make Fable unique."

Elements like the economy in the game and the things you can do with it are the things that really get me excited for this game.

So, is the whole Morrowind-ish "one big world" stuff still in? Or have they changed it to levels?

If the economy is truly that advanced, it deserves all the praise it can get. But as this was said by Peter "The Hype Machine" Molyneux, I'd take it with a whole lot of salt until I actually see it in action.

Same here, it would be very cool, and Peter Molyneux is a very talented guy, but its certainly not the first time he's made claims like that which never appeared in the final product, Syndicate comes to mind, and Populous, and Black and White, and whatever happened to his plans of making all his games interconnectable around the time he did that magic carpet game where he said you'd be able to fly underwater and appear in another game and so on.

So yeah, lets wait and see.

I can't wait to rob some guys unloading a ship brining in supplies to the town...heheh....or wait... I can't wait to kill the people robbing the guys unloading the ship...

PC would be MUCH better platform for this game ......
* Walks away, sad that ANOTHER brilliant PC Game Developer has sold out to the XBox * :(

wow.....that guy in the background of the screen you posted dux looks identical to most male villagers in black and white

as for fable the game itself, i'm still dissapointed on how it cancelled it's co-op mode :(

Bah... a good game on the X-box is like a set of someone else's soiled bedsheets to me. Worthless. :(

Looks like it'll be a great game. If it's as good as KOTOR I'll be happy

Agree'd. It could have had Morrowind type success on the PC (imagine if they'd have made fable modable!) So difficult to mod MW on the xbox that its just become another game on there, with the users a bit miffed how they lost out on all the great extra's the PC lot get.

I can't for it.

to me this quote (from the ign preview) shows how awsome the game can be.

Xbox IGN said:
Take, for example, the wasp head trophy I've won. Right after claiming my prize, I spot three old men sitting on a bench, looking at me in wonder. I display the trophy proudly and they give me props and boost my renown. Then I beat them to death with the trophy

I will kill children, light their corpses on fire and burn down people's houses with them. All non beleivers will lose their first born.

I saw a trailer that talks about how there are 5 different AI systems. One of them is a Global AI system, which regulates things like trade, the economy, and the global perception of your character.

In the video, Peter Molyneux (sp?) explains how a beta tester went to a village, killed EVERYONE in it, and the property value dropped because of the lack of any people. He bought all of the property, and waited for villagers to come from other villages to repopulate the village. He then rented out all of the houses and shops and made a huge profit, thus becoming an evil slum lord.

The amazing thing about that is it wasn't an actual design goal to allow that, it just sorta came to be because of the phenominal AI system they developed. No doubt about it, this game will be amazing.
