Fall looking more realistic?

From your handy dandy best buy employe i bring you all bad news. As ive posted dates before and as we have seen bestbuy useually use's a projected date given to it by who ever up top. Im hear now to let you know that as of today bestbuy changed the release date of half-life 2 to...........

You probably know what im thinking so ill just post the date.

11/05/04...

If you dont belive me call a best buy, they will give that info out. They had the AUGEST 3'rd before any of the online sites for doom 3. Now this is probably a projected release date... But how many projected release dates are given out that actually come out before that day?

Valve canning WON on the 28th.

CS:S beta has one map.... and is supposable going to be the end of this month.
 
Why does everyone insist on posting dates set by retailers? They have no bearing on reality.
 
Im sorry, I posted it for people who wanted to know. I take it as a more realistic release date than some are setting. I think it would be funny as crap... Ya we need to beta test CS:S but.... you can only beta it for 2 weeks.
 
Does that mean November 5th? No way in hell its gonna be that late, no friggin way. Its comin early September.

I'm not trying to be rude, but seriously dates set by retailers may as well be pulled out of a hat. They have no better idea then we do. They just try and make a guestimate, while simultaneously trying to keep the hype for the game going and trying to cover their asses as well.

And the game is already done, or did they miss some textures?

Anyways all we're testing is the engine. It's like how Microsoft do as well.

They have seperate versions of the same product, for testing.
(This applies to windows at least)

One variation, might be for User Interface, The other for drivers, then a third that is a general build.

You could say that Half-Life 2 is a narrow test, with only singleplayer to test(not saying that multiplayer isn't in)
And that CS: Source is a broad test, for multiplayer.

You then gather feedback for all parties, and when it's time you integrate it into the general(main) build.
 
Thxs. The way im looking at it is this, most online retailers have it set has 9-1-04 but most stores are saying something along the lines of what is listed for bestbuy. As we hve seen with valve it seems like they shake their 8ball before release a release date. What date would you rather see for the game? I think thats why many retailers are moveing their dates back. Gabe sas july 30th vivendi will have the release canidate. Which in english should mean that the game would go gold on the 1st... They dont really test the games all that much and with halflife2 being held with so much anticipation.... Really we should be able to see the game on the shelf by the 16th of next month... is it going to happen? hehe
 
I think either August or September, no later. They started testing actually quite a while ago now...(HL2 that is, not CS)

it will go gold the end of Augest , and will be released sometime in spetember Or it will go gold mid Augest and will be realesed September 1'st . There is no other option , it is one of those two.
 
anytime September is easily more realistic then October
 
Well, it's always safer to bet on a later dates than to show some guts.
 
late august, early september, thats what i think
 
It's still all speculation by the retailer though, I'm going to have to close.
