I liked Firearms for HL1. Nice red v blue action. What's the difference between FA2 and FA:S?

read all that. and decide for your self.

FireArms2 is the team considered responsible for stealing the FireArms team's forums and FTP. They have "legal" permission from the only copyright holder of the game, but that contract died one year after its signing. They have a couple other former FireArms members on their team. They are nearing their alpha stage.

FireArms:Source is the team who has permission from the most recent team leader of the FireArms team, has a few former members, and has been remaking the game with a large amount of support from former team members and the community. We are near a public release.

One thing to keep in mind is that it is in the opinion of many that most things "Jonneh" or "JonJon" (same person) says must be taken with a grain of salt, as he happens to change his story on things quite often.

Ask Ennui if you want some really delicious and in depth answers. He did a lot of research on the matter when all of the drama came out into the open.

I have a whole lot of info on this (I corresponded with a load of people on both sides of the event) somewhere on my HD, I'll see if I can find it.

As far as gaming goes, FA:S looks better both objectively and subjectively. Also, Jonneh is a massive ****rag, which is definitely points against FA2.

see? he read it all, and then some. he made his opinion based on these things. i wish more people would do this rather then just hearing something in a forum post, then flaming either mod for what ever reason. if you've done you're research... well thats another matter.

i still want to see everything you've dug up.

it would actually be awesome to find all the major threads made on the matter and pull them apart to see everything that everyone has figured out. could find some interesting things.

but alas people probably have much better things to do with their life.

For what it's worth, I'm never going to download or play FA2 as a result of the vicious backstabbing and lying done by the hands of Jon and his cronies. It's good you wanted to continue the legacy of FA, but that doesn't excuse the actions which took place.

Bottom line: He could have easily started up the same mod being worked on under a different title. Instead, he played dirty to seize a well-known and respected name in HL's modding scene.

you know what? I don't know what to believe.
I won't play either mod. I hope you're happy D:

Hey lets keep the drama to ourselves, I don't care.

I ment in terms of content. Are they both "Red vs Blue" still, with just alot of weapons to customize your kit, or does one take a more storylined approach?

I do recall hearing that the original firearms team went off to make World At War, as well.

Having read, what the FA 2 team did, i have to say, that's not the best way to keep a mod alive.

Not the entire team went on to work on world at war, some went to work on jungle mist, some went to work on FireTeam:Incursion, which would eventually merge with Jungle Mist to form Incursion, which would then merge with FireArms:Source. World at War is currently on hiatus, as it seems many of the problems from the former FA community had followed them along for the ride.

In terms of content, the basic premise of the game will be the exact same, both games will be basing their gameplay off of everything that made firearms popular to start with. weapons, certain gameplay systems and maps will probably be different, but both will probably be very similar to the original firearms, at least that of the 2.5 era.

Couldn't of said in any better. Him and his crew have lost a lot of credit in the progress and I do not follow their progress any longer because of so.
