I have DX9 and an on board graph chip for my E machines T2885. My flashlight won’t work. Any ideas on why or how to get it to work?
(I tried to go under options>video>advanced but the game stopped, I got some application error couldn’t read memory message and booted out of it.)

If I understand you correctly, you said you have an integrated Video Card. (Video Card is "Built Into" your motherboard.)

If this is the case, your Video Card is "Most Likely" very dated.

Even though you have DirectX 9 running on your system. You still CAN NOT use all of the features in DirectX unless you have a DirectX 9 capable video card.

-----------------------------------------

For example... 2 weeks ago. I had an ATI 9200 in my computer. It's a DirectX 8 capable video card. When I played FarCry with that video card, Everything worked great EXCEPT for indoor pools of water. The surface of that water was severely glitched... (It was a DirectX 9 hardware effect.)

A couple days ago, I went out and picked up a GeForce FX 5500 OC (DirectX 9 Capable)

Now everything works great! Frame Rates are better too! And I got 256MB Video RAM for Everquest 2 =P

Of course HL2 runs like a dream now =) I play it in 1280 lines

bah. my video card is a level 6 directx, and i never needed the flashlight in the whole game (useless anyway since it does not work except for crates, the arms of people and a few more useless stuff) There is just no place in the game where this is dark long enough to use it.
And the few dark places in the game are traps that contains a half-zombie.

Thanks...as long as it is not really needed. SO far I have managed without it.

Dude, youre speaking bullshit.

Thye flashlight lights up everything in its radius, its not working for you because of YOUR hardware, not the Software. DX6? Christ man, no wonder its not working ;(

I think you'll need it in Ravenholm... gud luck.

oops, i was unclear. Bullshit? mm.. not my intention..

Tight-ass Llama, yes my hardware is not good (this is playable anyway) . I know the flashlight work with better stuff.

Oh and as somebody said elsewhere, people turn the gamma setting "sky high" and turn the light out in their room (i do that) so we can see almost anything on srcreen, so the flashlight is not that usefull.
