Couldnt exactly decide on what category this might fall unto...forum wise...so I'm plopping it in general...so there

anywho...after many hours of just plain welding anything I saw (jbmod has added quite a lot of replay value to my copy of hl2)...to, well, anything else I saw...and figuring out how to change the variables on spawned cannisters...I decided to be productive...and make something...two things actually (both of which I'm still kinda working on)..and they are as follows:

buggy cannister launcher

and a flying machine of sorts

I've basically got them to work...I'm currently trying to make the cannister launcher look better...and the flying contraption pilotable...I'll post screens soon  (as soon as I get them to the right kb's)

Screens to prove it all...

...and here they are:

funny approach to making a plane, but every man to his own.

Have you seen LittleB's plane thing he made,
http://up1.fastuploads.info/airplane2.avi.zip (right click and save as) Apparently you can control canisters by binding them to keys and steering planes like that. If you could recreate that. but make it pilotable then that would be great! :)

Well...i've figured out how to bind the damn things to various keys...and have actually "remote controlled" the garbage-plane-thing...(which was frickin' fun btw)...but its just a plain bitch to get gordon/myself to stay in the damn thing...

I'm working on a cage of sorts...mostly random crap thrown together...I'll post an update if i actually get the bastard working

Lol, that's great! Where did you get the canisters from? Don't tell me you carried them all the way from Route Kanal...

heh heh...I havent that much time on my hands

go to:

http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/Half_Life_2_JBMod;34163

and in the readme...it tells you how to enter a command that spawns cannisters...that can vary in pressure...just by changing their variables

for example "ent_create_cannister" is the command, which, if entered...will spawn a green cannister...green meaning a very low pressure...and red being the highest...(good for using in a buggy cannister launcher for instance)

to get a higher pressure just add a couple digits at the end of the command: "ent_create_cannister 1234 10"...and the "10" at the end means how long it will last...farely easy stuff once figured out

awesome, im gettin that mod right now as i type:D can you weld organic matter? imagine a combine or a zombie welded to something... i'd laugh

You can weld organic stuff...(I welded a combine to the reer wheel o' my buggy once...three words: *clump*clump*clump*...hehehe)...but its a bit iffy at times...i dunno...you'll see for youself...the guy who made the mod is still working on it...so expect some crashes

lol ok... ooooooh a giant rope of combine, you could use it as a ladder lmao

oh and btw...easiest way to get the "manipulator" as he calls it...(or "welder" as I call it)...is to open the console and type the good ol' "impulse 101" cheat...after which your weapon should change to the blue physgun...which it isnt...exactly...thats just the model he used...but if it didnt automatically change...scroll through your weapons...and it should be located under the rocket launcher I believe...cant quite recall...

lol...just "combine" them to make a rope...heh...*slaps knee*....actually I didnt think of that...ill have to try it...-races hunt3r88 to the punch-

How do you even weld organic matter? I tried to do npcs and monster but nothing happens.

It is possible, but damn hard to weld for some reason. I can weld everything else easily, except organic tihngs.

Cause its so easy to weld flesh in real life.. ;)

Garbage man?

thats funny

It's supposed to be easier if you type in the commands "phys_gun autoweld 1" and phys_gun attract 0". or something like that.
You might want to check the jbmod FAQ here:
http://www.hl2 world.com/wiki/index.php/JBMod
(just copy & paste into your browser and get rid of the space between "hl2" and "world".)

I made a plane that makes loops in the air and I can fly with it. I just attached the airboat to it and sit there :). The physics inside a box attached to the plane are crappy. I made a plane just go forward at thrust 30000 from the cannisters and I got killed after 1 second because the objects that kept me from falling through the back just pushed me and killed me.

Oh YEAH!!!! I came up with this idea in an earlier JBmod thread, but everyone said it would not work. I would LOVE to weld a combine to each tire, and thump along, giving them thier just desserts! :naughty:

I also thought that a buggy with combine welded all over it as shields would be rather intimidating to other combine as I came roaring into the highway level with it -- who wants to shoot corpses of thier buddies!!

haha majorpayne...yeah...sorta mad max-ish...that'd be very discouraging to the combine...

combine soldier: "hey, here comes some o' our guys...huh, they seem excited about something...what with all that bouncing and jumping about like ragdolls and whatnot...hmm...and...that looks like the buggy that that Freeman character was drivin'...hrmm...wait a tic...that looks like Freeman drivin' it!"...and yet another combine hood ornament to add to the collection...hehheh...or "padding" as I like to
think of it

Damn, that would be sweet. Since you apparently CAN weld organics to the cars, is it possible to weld, say, a STRIDER to the top of your car.

I can picture Gordon driving up to Alyx, and saying "honey, I went hunting, and look what I got for dinner!! I hope you know how to cook... well, whatever the F**k this is!".

On second thought, this is Gordon, so he would probably drive up to her, and just stare at her with this wierd giant bug welded to her car (Cause he won't speak) -- and she would finally decide to leave him for someone who "communicates" and does not strap wierd sh*t to his roof! :P

yeah, it seems like the weld points sort of slide over ragdolls so it's hard to weld things together
