I'm about to run the backup via Steam, but does it save your SDK stuff?

If not, how do I do so properly? :)

My computer won't go into safe mode since this last OS install, and it keeps dumping the X-fi drive, so I have to reinstall the sound driver every now and then. Usually dumps the drivers when I reboot (not every time, but once in a blue moon). I'm thinking, perhaps, the install CD was too scratched up (I'm horrible at keeping non-gaming disks scratch free).

I think as long as you save the .vmf (the file hammer uses) and .bsp (the compiled map) files you should be fine. Be sure to make backups of any model and texture files you might have. I've never tried the backup via steam option but frankly I wouldn't trust it.

Round up all of your .vmf's and email them to yourself.

the maps, texture and models u have made have to be backed up separately. staem backup works perfectly. i have reinstalled steam twice. if tyhe backup waz taken a long while ago, the updation process might take a while after installation.
