4 questions of the hour:

1. Is it real? EDIT: ok, so it is.

2. Why isn't DOD:Source released with CE?

3. How are they going to ship the gear that comes with the Steam packages?

4. What package to ATI vouchers get?

I'm guessing DOD:S won't be in the CE is because it won't be done by the time HL2 is out. Seemed to me from the long DOD:S interview, that dod wasn't even close to being done.

im sure when you buy the steam package with your credit card, they will ship you the stuff (possibly with a shipping fee) to whichever address you specify. easy.

Shipping fee my ass. If it is included with the deal it should be included in the cost.

then again, they might make a shipping fee so people who don't want to spend 10 dollars to ship that stuff that'll probably take 2 weeks to arrive, won't send them the money and they don't have to have as many items.

I hope the change the CE to include some of the crap thats in steam's gold. (Like the Soundtrack and hat ) however I think the chances of that are low at best .

It's quite possible that it actually is. Gabe probably just had a brain fart at while typing the CE info. It would be silly if it wasn't.

DoD Source isn't done yet. Go check dayofdefeat.net/forums and see for yourself.

edit: Oh, I see what you mean.

I think it's intentional. They could have given CE buyers a voucher, a CD-key, or $5-off coupon, or something if they wanted CE buyers to have DoD:S.

Everyone has asked the question "Why should I buy it from Steam?" This is the answer.

I think it's clear the Steam packages are designed to compete with Vivendi's boxed ones.

um, given whats has been happening, and that the CE is basically a Vivendi product (and a pretty lame one at that, even _before_ the Steam packages were announced), are you really that surprised that the Steam packages are better?

i think it's very clever. there is really no point buying the CE now unless u don't have broadband. Vavle have been listening to the ppl that said they would like to buy on Steam, but they want something tangible from their purchase.

i do worry about what it will cost to ship all my Gold pack goodies to australia, though.

So why are you all whining? You pay 80 for the CE, which is reasonable since it contains a 400 page full color book. So what is the f*cking problem? Steam Gold is probably way more expensive, or it may be that subscriber service thar requires a monthly fee.

I'm betting that Gold costs the same as CE or at most $10 more. They're saving a lot without Vivendi's packaging and Viviendi's cut of the profit.

The CE doesn't seem to come with the full 400-page book either since they're calling it a "sampler."
