Hey, I just recieved Oblivion last night and I had a chance to play it for about 20 minutes. I won't be able to play it for the next few days, but I am dying to know how my PC will handle it when I reach the outdoor settings. In the tunnels, I am getting between 25 and 40 fps. How much should I expect that to drop when i get outside?

My specs are:
Athlon X2 4400+
1024 MB RAM
6800 GS 256 MB PCI-Express

Well to give you a hint: I get anwhere from 60-150fps indoors, and outdoors I get 15-35fps. Though I have noticed that being in a city, the outdoor FPS is much more enjoyable at 35+.

thats strange, i get less fps indoors, and i get more outdoors, but this only appied from the indoor starting place, and outdoor in the open. outdoor in cities i get low fps

well, dumb dude, I hope your experience isn't an indication of my performance because I might need to lower the settings significantly if that's the case.

There are lots of video options you can adjust for the outdoors. Adjusting the grass/tree draw distance would probably help, though if you set them too low the pop-up effect is pretty annoying.

Wait, wait, wait.. You can lower the settings that much? I don't think i'll have problems with my shitty graphics card!

I noticed that if I completely disable the grass (you get used to it after a while) you gain quite a lot of frames. I get 40+ outdoors when I do that.

yeah, turning off ALL the grass period is a good way to give you a BIG performance boost. Trees and buildings in the distance dont really lag you up that much.

I play 1024x768, 2xAA, Bloom and all sliders medium. No "lag" inside or outside. I might get lower FPS (havn't tested) outside but it runs just as good as it does inside for me.

No performance issues what so ever with this game. :D
