Fragmaster: Direct Attack on HL2.net

Recently, another fan site foolishly proclaimed that Half-Life 2 "will be released this year." Of course, this is the same site that kept insisting 9/30/03 was the correct release date last year while we continued to scream like jerks that it wouldn't happen, but oh well...

There is no guarantee HL2 is coming out this year. Valve is a company that took six months to ship a game that had already been officially declared gold (CS: CZ). A company supposedly still toiling away on the E3 1999 Best of Show winner (Team Fortress 2). They're the geniuses behind PowerPlay technology. It took them over two years to sell a game through Steam.

But we will be seeing a bunch of new Half-Life 2 news and possibly media soon. What we probably won't get is another firm release date estimate.

He also runs Planet Unreal, and to be honest there all simply pigeon hole outlets for gamespy, (nuth said tbh) but your right PHL does take a very negative pesimistic attitude towards everything.

Interesting that fragmaster would say that. There's no reason to believe HL2 wont be released this year unless Valve says otherwise. Always assuming the worst is just as bad as always expecting the best.

The whole gamespy network sucks actually ALL of it, its just terrible. its all a bunch of 12 year olds that arn't even old enough to be playing half the games on it... THEY NEED TO JUST DIE!!

Lol, hes an ignorant slob... Gabe did NOT say the game was coming in 2005... He said if thats what it took, then they would do it... The date isn't relevant, it could have been 2010 and what he said was the same. Its not going to be released until they are satisfied with it, not YES its going to be released in 2010... Some people just dont get it, and fragmaster is one of them.

Hey, they're not all bad. The guys who run Planet Quake are pretty decent. I have to agree though, PHL needs to be flushed out. It's time for some new writers.

The only thing they need is a new news writer, yes. Everything else is decently good, they have some funny flash animations too. They provide screenshots and character bios and weapon stats like most other sites. But I agree, Fragmaster is goin' DOWN baby! :afro:

Fragmaster needs to sort himself out or speak to me about any grievances he has about Halflife2.net. He can call us what he wants it doesn’t change what we do or make us any less respected as a site. I find the comments quite humorous really

Sure there’s a possibility of it coming out in 2005, nothing is certain in life. All we’re going on is the promises made by Valve that it will be here in 2004. So far everything looks to be running like clockwork.

I’m closing this thread as it’s just turned into site bashing.

On a side note Munro, I don't think Fragmaster has a problem with us, I wish all of the communities would get on but it's proving difficult :/
