Right this is a theory about the G-man, although not a theory attenpting to answer who he is.
The only reason we call him the G-man, is because that was the name he was given in the half-life 1 files. Now to all the people out there who think G-man is realy significant. I can tell you its not. G-man is a common term in the american language and it means Governement official.
Secondly on the pc version, we never discover who the administrator is, and before it was discoverd on the ps2 version, it was always asumed the administrator was the G-man.
The G-man obvioulsy has free reign in the black mesa facility and has the black mesa simble on his briefcase + many other clues stating that he is from the facility
Also in the first half life he is clearly in charge of the US marines sent to the base.
So my theory is that in half-life one at least, even the writers didnt realy know who the G-man was. The called him the govermnment guy, he is in charge of the US marines, and most likely the administrator. They made him realy inigmatic and strange, But in all honesty, I dont think they wrote more of a story to him then that.
What do you guys think? The writers always knew who the G-man was going to be, or have worked it out bewteen 1 and 2, or are they just making it up as they go along.
From experience I can tell you that on TV shows such as lost for example, you think there is a clear story developing, but I can tell you the writers pretty much make it up as they go along, and simply put an ending together once the series run out of budget.
Is this what will happen to half life- do we run the risk of being disapointed by who the g-man is?
