It's called Time Commanders. And yes it uses an early build of R:TW :)

the Romans never fought Alexander (he ruled before them and basically paved the way for the Roman empire). Maybe they could have beat him. I think Hannibal was a pretty cool general - he owned the Romans but then he couldn't get supplies/reinforcements to capture Rome!

Yep, but it must have been shown on the Discovery channel as well... has been a month or two since it premiered.

Interesting how little some of the contestants know about military tactics- perhaps games can be educational after all

!!! JUNK YARD MEGA WARS

I live in belgium and the dude presenting the program is just sooooo overreacting about everything that its funny,
there was a lighting flash and he pointed towars the lightning and yelled:

3 PEOPLE JUST DIED THERE

I laughed my ass of

I thought that show was on the history channel, and it was called Decisive Battles.. must be different, but they use rome total war and it was actually pretty fun to watch.. ( i love the history channel) Now after re-reading your posts, it doesnt sound like the show i watched, as you mention contestants... as the show i watched just recreated the battles.

there are two TV shows that used the RTW engine. The first was Time Commanders for the BBC and the second was decisive battles for the history channel...

...

Sorry to bump this post up but I think this needs clearing up.

Time Commanders was a british programme that used an early version of the R:TW engine.

Desicive battles was a history channel programme, (I think it was only aired in America)

Finally, Clash of generals uses it.
Clash of generals is on the discovery channel and features 'what if' battles.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. Didn't know tv programmes used game engines.

And the discovery channel rocks! I've got Discovery Channel, and tranvel and adventure, science and civilisation.

Time team is awesome :P

blah!
time team scum!

*pulls out gun*

"DIE HEATHEN! DIE!"

Yeah it used to be on BBC2 i think, could have been BBC1.
